Captain Jack is getting his own spin-off! On one hand, YAAAAAAAY! But on the other hand, I want him back with the Doctor and Rose, damn it. *whimpers*

The article's called "The All-Time 100 Best Novels," but it also points out that it's only from 1923 to the present. Okay, I think I've read maybe three of those. *sighs* And I really do have to get back my copy of Lord of the Rings from my brother, since it turns out he has it now.

Other countries doing their own versions of The Amazing Race. Can I watch one of their versions? Because this season is fucking killing me. (I can pretty much guarantee that the day the Gaghans go is the day that I do.)

For anybody who hasn't seen it, the extended Firefly gag reel. My particular favorite is in the fourth section, when Nathan uses the long voiceover part in "The Message" to pretty much kill the rest of the cast with hysterical laughter. *giggles*

Movie trailers (And while Apple Trailers's new format is nice and all, I can't remember which ones I've already told you guys about because of it):

Curious George

Syriana

The DaVinci Code

Ice Age 2

First off, I LOVE your icon. Ahh, I wish I was doing the same thing...

And one point I thought of about the new Captain Jack show is that if it's successful, which I imagine it will be, then it shouldn't be too much trouble to have Jack on BOTH shows. They'll likely be in production at different times and since on Doctor Who, they bounce around time and space. So Jack can be off at a static year doing these investigations (back when he was with the Time Agency??) and then we can see him with Rose and the Doctor. That's my idea. There may be holes.

Well, here's hoping he gets to be back on DW eventually. I love that he's getting his own spinoff, but at the same time, I adore the chemistry he had with the Doctor and Rose.

Ooh... that Torchwood idea sounds fabulous. There better be lots of hot gay sex, and there damn well better be torrents :P

And I'm with you on TAR killing me. The completist in me has to watch the whole season, but I'll be damned... it's actually getting worse than TAR 6.

Amen to the gay sex. Because Jack should get lucky with everybody, and everybody should get lucky with Jack. :)

I know what you mean about having to watch the whole season, because the minute I finished typing that part about leaving when the Gaghans do, I was like, "Well, no, I probably won't, because I'm a glutton for punishment." But the Gaghans are the only team left that I can stand on screen for longer than five seconds, and it's not helping that the challenges for this season aren't that goddamn challenging. (See: Last week's episode, which was pretty much one long "Go here" clue.) I also totally agree with Miss Alli on one point, which is that some of these whiny little princesses who complain about something as stupid as a chartered bus ride (*coughWeaverscough*) could use a wake-up call trip to India.

Oh, how I wish they had to go to India. Or even somewhere in Africa - the comments would probably make Kendra's acceptable by comparison. I read Miss Alli's latest recap, and I think I have to agree with the "worst episode ever" moniker, only because of the poor planning. This is the 8th season - they should know better than this.

I'm actually warming up to the Gaghans a bit, which is good since the only other team I liked (the Linzes) are getting on my nerves. Repeatedly. And the more I think about it, the more this season is worse than TAR 6, 'cause at least that one had Kris & Jon were there for the entire race to buffer against everyone else's asshattery. As soon as the Aiellos were Philiminated, there went the bastion of decency.

Oh, yeah, that "worst episode ever" assessment was painfully appropriate. Between the brainless clues, the bunching, and the obnoxious product placement, I felt like strangling the producers. It's become apparent that not only was the four-person team idea a bad one due to the travel restrictions it entails, but that it's also confusing as hell and boring as fuck. (Do I know the names of any of the Pink Ladies or can I tell apart any of the Bransen girls? Nope, still can't, and don't particularly care to.)

The Linzes weren't that bad, until it became obvious that dick-and-fart jokes weren't just their forte, they were their only form of amusement. And I'm used to being around boys most of the time, but ... no. Most boys are wittier than this. (Hell, my brother and I are much more amusing than this. Why the hell aren't we on the show? Oh, that's right -- because he's still nineteen and they won't take you unless you're twenty-one. *sigh*)

I think the reason the Gaghans haven't irritated me yet is because their worst offense at this point -- aside from not asking someone where the U.S. Capitol reflecting pool was two hours earlier -- is that they're very competitive, but really, that's one of those qualities you have to have on this show, and at least they're not obnoxious about it. (I give Billy and Carissa leeway when they behave what amounts to "badly" for them -- which is still far more polite than any of the other teams -- because they remind me of me and my brother.)

I think the thing that annoyed me the most at first about the Gaghans was the precociousness of the kids, but the fact that they're very well-behaved for their ages gives them major points.

And yeah, I can't recognize anyone either - pretty much the only people I can name names for are the Schroeders, the Gaghans and the Paolos. Kinda sad.

Syrian's trailer is soverygood for the first twenty seconds and utter incoherence for the next minute ten. Damn you Clooney, this is not Oil's Eleven!

As I remarked in the journal where I first heard about "Torchwood", this just makes it more imperative that we get the Ninth Doctor officially onto US screens.

For some reason, the trailers are not playing for me - do I need to download something?

No, I think they're just not working right now. They're sure not working for me, at any rate, and I just updated my Quicktime not long ago.

I can't go see the gag reel yet, because I got my boyfriend HOOKED on the series and am no longer allowed to see anything Firefly without him. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!! *giggle*

Now I need Serenity/Firefly icons. Anyone know where I can get some hot ones of Mal or Jayne any fun ones?

Still annoyed as all get-out at LJ that the "reply" icon on this layout DOES NOT WORK IN SAFARI ANYMORE. gnah.

Anyway. ;)

Thanks for the gag reel! I remember seeing that once way back when (I downloaded it at work... bad me :) , but it's been a couple years, easy. Mmm, extended silliness. Now I want to make icons of everyone screwing up....

As for Torchwood -- well. You can probably tell from my icon here that I'm enthused. :)

That's sad, I will have only read 9 of these by the end of the semester (we're reading Beloved and Wide Sargasso Sea in Women and Lit)
