Oct. 17th, 2005 11:21 amSo I called Bossman (again) to see about my unused vacation time pay. I didn't get him, but I did get one of the other supervisors, who got to listen to me complain that I sort of need that money, uh, YESTERDAY. Which is only fair, really, considering I should have gotten it weeks ago. Actually, as long as I get it by the end of the week, I'll be happy, and Bossman can pull the strings to get that to happen, and will if I have anything to say about it. I'm sick of this shit, and while I'm not very good at being assertive about this stuff, considering this is three hundred dollars or so I really need, I think I can manage this time around.
He's supposed to call me in the next two hours (which sucks because I have to go buy toilet paper and ransack my parents's attic for more hand-me-downs), so until then, I map out The Vampires of Vandling. *glares at phone when it doesn't ring immediately*
And for the record, since I haven't said much about the new job, I can't really say all that much about it due to that lovely comprehensive confidentiality agreement (be surprised I can admit I work there), but it's twelve-hour night shifts sticking supplies into machines. It's monotonous and loud and by four in the morning, I'm about to keel over, but hey, it pays well. *eye roll*

Date: 2005-10-18 03:37 am (UTC)And hey, with this job, I get paid once a week instead of every other week, so that's good. :)

Date: 2005-10-18 03:53 am (UTC)So you work four 12-hour shifts in a row? Augh, that would kill me. We work two days, off two days, work three days, off two days, work two days and off three days. Rinse, repeat, ad infinitum.

Date: 2005-10-18 04:03 am (UTC)What I really miss was the really great job I had a few years ago for about two months (before we all got laid off ... *sobs*) that was an all-night twelve-hour shift, but it was building fiberoptic circuit boards and it was actually really interesting. The great thing was that they set up the schedule in this weird pattern so that you ended up getting a week off every month.

Date: 2005-10-18 04:09 am (UTC)The week I had to work five days in a row (and two of them were eight-hour overtime shifts) killed me. And I find it's harder to go back to work after my three-day weekend than it is my two-day weekend. >.> While having four days off in a row sounds nice, I think I prefer mine broken up.
