apocalypsosGay "family" denied entry to U.S.
*user growls softly to herself for a long moment, then ...*
Okay, I'm going to do this in parts.
A.) They are a family, dumbass. As much as I love the fact that this story was even reported, considering that we'd never see this story reported in American media, drop the quotation marks, all right?
B.) The US Embassy in Ottawa defended the action by US immigration officials at Toronto airport, saying that the 1996 US Defence of Marriage Act defined marriage as "only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife". That's great. That's just wonderful. As stupid as it is, if that's what the law says that, you have to enforce it. For your own fucking country. I know this will come as quite a shock to you, but Canada is not the fifty-first state. You may not have passed geography, but I did. Our laws do not apply to Canadians doing something that's legal in Canada in Canada. So suck it up.
C.) "This is the law of the country, so as a sovereign country, the US can definitely do what it wants," embassy spokeswoman Danielle Lorrain said. Which is a philosophy that's worked extraordinarily well in Iraq. If you could sound a tad more arrogant when you're shoving your head up your ass, that would really help.
D.) The Canadian Government is currently considering to extend same-sex unions throughout the country. Note to US government ... as Canada is not the fifty-first state, you are not allowed to have a shit fit when this does happen.
I will never in my life figure out why two people swearing to love each other is a bad thing. Never.
But then again, I don't lead my life according to social mores which are grossly behind the times, sometimes by centuries, so what the hell do I know?
