apocalypsos: (boo misbehave)

Yay for showing off new Boo icons! (Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mysticxf, who made a whole bunch of Monsters Inc. icons. Go look!) Dude, if this icon doesn't scream me, I don't know what does. :)

So I wandered off to the store and got myself the stuff I need to start sewing again (well, aside from a part I need for my sewing machine, but let's not even get into that). Now I'm all hopped up on crafty energy and want to make the skirt I got the material for by tomorrow so I can wear it to the Big Gay Cowboy Movie. *rubs hands together in anticipation*

And while we're at it, I've been thinking about last night's Project Runway. Look, here's the whole thing with Lupe's dress vs. Marla's dress. I didn't like Lupe's dress, but then again I don't like any of Lupe's stuff. Her grasp on color is just weird, and while I did sorta like parts of the dress, the things hanging off it and the way it was done in the back and the single red sleeve was just not good. But at least she showed some personal style. Was it good style? Not really.

But Marla copied that dress. There's just no two ways about that. I mean, if I had sketched that dress, and then saw an exact duplicate on her in a picture, I would do some quickie redesigning as soon as possible. That's like writing a remix as almost the exact same story and then saying, "Well, some of the adjectives are different." No, sweetie, that's not the way it works.

The TWoP recaplet says Nick should take over for Marla's pissy model. I concur. (Or better yet, Daniel V., with stripping. MMM.)

Speaking of Daniel V., is anyone else getting the impression that he's actually using this show as a learning experience to design better? Look at his earlier stuff, which was nice and all but looked kind of shapeless and meh. His work is getting better as he goes along, which is great.

And in the same vein of people who are learning from the experience, Diana seems to be getting that she really needs to step away from the conceptual and move towards the practical. It's not that her concepts are bad, per se, it's just that's she's getting a much better sense that she needs to translate them better. Not that it's turning out that way sometimes. I loved the concept of the Goddess lingerie, but looking at the photos of it last night on the website, I'm not sure I liked the way they turned out. I did adore that Barbie outfit of hers, though. (I may have bought a Fashion Nerd pin off her website. Heh. :))

Santino is still an ass, although I did like his dress. But I was really irritated about the whole thing where they dumped on Diana for having a high waistline, then gave Santino the win. Dude, his had a high waistline, too. In fact, a lot of his dresses have weird waistlines, and let's not even get into the whole "whickety whack" thing when every dress of his either has braiding or twists or ruffles. He does nice things with them (except on the lingerie, which ... GYAH), but still, it's really annoying. I keep thinking of it as I like his clothes, with the addendum that he has design dependencies he needs to step back from. You know, aside from being an asshole.

I liked Chloe's dress, but way, waaaaaaay too much like her "clothes off your back" dress. The braid on the back was a cool touch, though.

And then there was Andrae's dress, which really I do want and feel totally guilty about it. I mean, Nick is the classy fun drama queen you can take out in public and Andrae is the spastic annoying drama queen you want to hide from your friends and family. Plus, for a designer, he really dresses badly. Nick looks frighteningly hot most of the time, and then there's Emmett who at least makes an effort to dress classy and elegant when the occasion warrants it, while Andrae wears tiny shorts and weird shoes and ugly shirts and ACK MAKE IT STOP. Nick and Emmett have that great distinct sense of style for their own wardrobe, and whenever Andrae is near either one of them ... *shudders*

Meanwhile, Daniel V.? Still hot. Guh.

EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218, have you read this article yet? Those two are so freaking cute. :)

Diana's blog is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I just want to snuggle her.

That post about walking around NYC and not thinking she looks all that attractive makes me want to whip out photos of her dancing in last night's episode and say, "Sweetie, don't knock yourself. You're gorgeous."

And her Halloween costume is so awesome. :)

Beats me. I'm still trying to figure out what Daniel F.'s supposed to be.

Daniel V.'s in black. And I think he got a haircut. Helloooooo, nurse. :)

I've never watched this show before, but I caught most of last night's episode and I totally thought Marla should have gone. Plagerism is wrong! They fire journalists for shit like that. It was also like saying "Well, Lupe, if you had just copied a pretty dress instead of designing your own fugly dress we would have kept you around!" I also thought it was pathetic how on the runway Marla tried to play it off like she didn't know it was a total copy.
