You know, sometimes living in a small town is just horribly amusing. My mom just told me that not only did the post office deliver my bank statement to their house even though I've been living in the apartment for four months now, they also delivered papers someone sent to her work that were sent to her attention. *snickers* C'mon, guys, you're a post office. Deliver to the address, kthxbi.

Project Runway: Livejournal Edition -- Okay, look, the last thing in the world I needed was more encouragement. I already dug my sewing machine out of my parents's attic and have been reminding myself that I need to find out where that sewing machine parts store is around here because I need to replace that little metal thing in the bottom of the machine that the bobbin goes in, 'cause it's missing. And I was going to buy some materials and play around and see if I could figure out how to make patterns. (Seriously, half of watching PR anymore for me is me mentally taking notes on how to construct a garment.) And then I went to the bank today and it turns out that thanks to the fact that I don't balance my checkbook (which causes me to become cheap and not spend anything because I'm always positive I don't have enough cash), I have an extra five hundred bucks, so I could splurge a little on material if I wanted. And I really, really want to make a new flowy peasant skirt.

Making your own patterns can be tricky. When I start a sewing project I find that working of a store bought pattern is the best. Even if they do not have exactly what I want I typically can modify it to make it a completely customized creation. Purchasing patterns is not cheep however, but occasionally stores will have 99 cent sales. That is when I convince myself to purchase very complicated patterns and then get frustrated with the directions. I bet your fabric is wonderful.

Which reminds me that the world really does need photos of my "Riddle Skirt", which is all blue and gold and spiffy.
