I've never watched an episode of The Office before, but I think it's really scary that I actually know exactly where they filmed all those shots of Scranton. Like, I could drive you there and tell you where they put the camera.

Reminds me of how someone I know can spot several of the filming locations from Lost, even when they're made up to be something else. When you consider that some bits were filmed around Oahu in the neighborhood where she grew up, it seems logical...

I have that with a couple of things. Shaun of the Dead. They filmed that mostly in Crouch End, just down the road from me.

And I mean, practically everything set in a big city is guilty to some extent, but the Disney live-action 101 Dalmations (as well as being completely rubbish in almost every way) had a great sequence where the guy rides his bike through about 15 different parks and squares and things all over London in about five minutes. And anyway him and his dog probably would have been squished by a bus, riding like that. *headdesk*

A couple of days ago I was told by the Town Clerk the Cameron Diaz is going to be filming in Godalming this week. The scene is set in Shere, which is 8 or 9 miles away, but Shere's shops don't look right.

I'm assuming this is because they think an american audience will look at Shere's shops and say, "that can't be a real English village, it's not quaint enough".
