I got out of work two hours early last night. SCORE. *happy dance*

Somebody tell me someone's written the Supernatural/Grey's Anatomy crossover that's begging to be written due to JDM's guest shot over there, and notice how I say that like it'll kill the plotbunny in my head if someone else actually has done it.

If I'm remembering correctly, raised-as-a-Catholic that I was, Lent starts this week. I think I'll go drink an amaretto and coke, eat a big bar of chocolate, and watch some porn, just because I can.

EDIT: TWoP recapped an episode of Days of Our Lives for Katrina relief. It wasn't an episode that Jensen was in, which depresses me a little (he was on during my third and final year of college, and you have never seen an entire dorm full of women get so spastically hooked on a soap opera so quickly as they did for him), but still, it's Days during one of its more ridiculous storylines, which means it was only one or two steps below Passions ridiculousness.

Myess, Ash Wednesday is tomorrow. I should think of something to give up for Lent.

Maybe...photoshop...

NOOOOO *dies* I would never be able to do that.

Heh. I'm such a horrible person, because ever since I renounced the whole religion thing, I keep taking everybody's else Lent sacrifice as a suggestion. "You gave up soda? Well, cheers to you! *guzzles Pepsi*" "You gave up seafood? Ooo, now I want shrimp scampi for dinner." "You gave up sex? Hmm, I should probably go see about that getting-laid thing before the end of the month."

Hmm so if I gave up, say, putting babies on spikes, you'd do that? ;)

Lol I'll probably put a poll up on my journal and let the underlings decide.

I'm giving up socks.

Nevermind that I live in Florida and it's almost sandal season.

Dude, if I could give up an article of clothing, I totally would. But it was -10 with the windchill on sunday, so probably giving up anything like that would kill me!

I couldn't survive with real winter. I love the cold, but hate wearing shoes. The only thing I love about summer is that I can wear sandals all season long and the only time I have to even think about sneakers is on the annual pilgrimage to Disney. ;)

Oy, as soon as I can, I'm moving somewhere where the winter isn't as rough. I need to go somewhere with a really beautiful spring, though, because that's my favorite season. And if that brings me closer to Disney, well that would be amazing :P

JDM on Grey's is, like, the best thing ever. Daddy Winchester! *loves him*

It's weird to see Jensen as not!Eric Brady sometimes. I saw his entire arc on Days, so sometimes I have to do a double-take. Ah, those formative soap opera years.

I know! And he's all hot and sexy even in his dying-from-heart-failure-ness, and all I can think about is, "Man, that crossover needs writing."

Okay, help me out here, because I could swear that the very first episode he was in, he was hiding in or sleeping at a playground, and if I'm remembering the very first episode that distinctly just because that was the first time I ever saw him, I'm going to laugh at myself a LOT.

I know that the Alien Twins - Rex and Cassie - were hiding out around Salem. I don't really remember when Eric came on. Ah! From Beth's Days Page:

Eric Brady--July 28,1997--We first saw Eric drop John Grisham's book, The Partner, as he got off the plane. After a few scenes of Eric at the airport and on the swings at the playground. The end of the show was of John catching Eric in the bushes and swinging him around thinking Eric is one of Stefano's men. Then Eric said, "John it's me." John yells, "Eric!" Marlena runs over and says "Eric! Oh Eric!" as she hugs him and Eric has a strange look on his face.

So, yes - there was a playground involved. :)

Oh, good Lord. *headsmack*

And the worst part (as if being reminded about the whole storyline and remembering it all again, including the weird look he was making) is that that means I was deliberately watching Days in the summer between semesters.

Oh, dude, which episode did they recap? WAS IT MARLENA'S EXORCISM?! :D

He's Roman! No, he's Forrest Alamain! No, he's a priest! No, he's John Black! Who the shit is John Black?! He's John Black, Forrest Alamain and a former spy for Stefano Demira! Who used to date Princess Gina! No, that's Hope!

The best part is, I KNOW I'VE FORGOTTEN SOME! Oh, Days, you crack you. The current storyline is like black tar heroin compared to the stuff above. Lexi is cheating on Abe with a reject from a BAD bodice ripper novel who is so repulsive it physically pains me to be in the same room with the TV while he's on. I mean, more than Days usually does that.

Also, Sami's saner, hotter sister came back.

Date: 2006-02-28 05:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
No, although if they would have recapped the exorcism, it would have ROCKED. It was an episode from that storyline from a few years back where everybody died, except they really didn't, because they were all in an alternate Salem on some island somewhere, and Marlena just keeps going on about being buried alive.

Days is awesome when it goes totally crack. I think my favorite thing isn't the show itself, but the fact that my hornball 70-year-old great-uncle has been watching that thing for at least the past twenty years.

A part of me really wishes they'd done an episode of Passions at its absolute worst, which is pretty much every episode. But, you know, one of the early ones with Timmy where everybody was set on fire at least once and Sheridan wouldn't stop talking about "What would my dead best friend Princess Diana do?" like she was an anorexic Jesus. And then Julian would coat the entire television in a thick layer of grade-A smarm, and the world would be a much happier place. (I can't begin to describe how much Sci-Fi rerunning the early episodes thrills me so.)

I REMEMBER THAT! Jack got to totally pretend to be Indiana Jones, it was AWESOME. Matthew Ashford was my very first TV crush. Oh, my goofy, dorky Jack, they totally ruined you. ;_;

My mom and grandma have been watching it since it premiered, I think. I know one of my earliest memories is of my tiny toddler self sitting with my grandma while mom makes sure the VCR is set up properly to tape the day's episode or OH MY GOD YOU WILL NEED TO RECAP IT FOR ME TAKE NOTES TAKE NOTES.

...suddenly I'm sad that I've never watched Passions. The last episode of Another World would have been good, too. At the wedding, there was a chimpanzee making moves on the groom. No, really.

From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Dude, if you get a chance to catch some of the reruns of Passions on Sci-Fi, you totally have to. It's the worst soap opera ever made and the best all at the same time, because the writers totally understand that soap operas MAKE NO FUCKING SENSE and just run with it. At the very least, you have to try to catch a Timmy episode, because he was one of the best characters ever to come out of soap opera land (A possessed doll enchanted to life by a witch who drank marTimmys! What's not to love?!) and then the actor passed away. It's the only time anything ever related to soap operas has made me burst into tears.

But then they needed another tiny adorable foil for the witch and had her get knocked up by Julian (I don't even remember how it happened, but the EWWWW factor cannot be described with mere words), and now she has this tiny blonde daughter Endora (*giggles*) who isn't on Timmy levels of greatness, but comes damn close.

HEE! I think I saw that episode of Another World.

And my grandmother was the one who made sure the entire histories of Young and the Restless and Guiding Light were firmly implanted in my brain for the rest of my life. Honestly, I'm not all that thrilled with either soap these days (GL has become the Harley Cooper And Whichever Spaulding She's Married To This Week Show, when I'd much rather they go back and show the storyline with the hot first cousins in love, which is hysterical if only to watch everybody involved never use the word "incest."

There was much weeping in this household when Macdonald Carey died. TOM HORTON NOOOOOOOO. Now I fear for Alice. ;_; Arleen Sorkin is back on Days again, though it's really weird having her speak in a not-Harley-Quinn voice and without Mark Hamill hanging out with her. I think she needs to call John "Mistah J" so that he can arch an eyebrow at her and win an Emmy. His eyebrows CARRY THAT SHOW, man. Physically.

These days, my mom watches Days, General Hospital (I adore Luke because he was in UHF and that makes him awesome but he's LEAVING SOON SO I DON'T CARE ANYMORE), and.. I think All My Children. Or As The World Turns. One of the damn A ones, I don't know. X)

Duly noted on Passions. Mmmm, crack.

Frickin' Ash Wednesday. *grumble*grumble*grumble*

I have school tomorrow night & my college is right across the street from The Oldest Basilica In North America. Grrr. This means much much traffic and all those annoying Catholics taking up the parking spots in the ramp. I gave up the Catholic church 20 years ago and they still find ways to annoy me.

Ehehehe. I threatened to give up porn for Lent, but people told me they'd never speak to me or give me chocolate, so I had to let that one go. :) So I'm thinking of like, giving up work or something. Maybe I'll give up being nice to stupid people. Yes, that's it!

And dude, I swear, if the discussion in the comments gets me started on watching Days again... *headdesk* No, no, no, no...

When I worked in Banff, one of my coworkers watched and she kept me updated on the storylines, and these days, I don't watch that much TV anyway, so I manage fairly well, but... it's like a horrible, horrible car wreck, with bloody people and body parts and things exploding. You know you should run for safety and not watch, but you just can't help yourself...

I will not find a summary site, I will not find a summary site...

That story line was the last time I was watching Days with any sort of regularity, and that was because it was the last summer my best friend was around (co-op placements SEND HER AWAY) and I NEVER DID get to see the HORRIBLE Belle and I'm SO SAD that Original!Belle left. And Original Jan left, too, because she was AWESOMELY TRASHY AND PSYCHOTICALLY OFF THE WALL.

I miss crazy!Jan. She was awesome. Calliope being back is pretty cool, though, and for some reason makes me watch to watch AbFab as much as Karen on Will & Grace does. Go fig.

JDM...that's the dad right? And I think I saw that episode but I honestly have no idea...mind blank...

Also...was the Days episode as ridiculous as General Hospital has been lately. First...there's a trainwreck...NOW there's a manmade virus epidemic. Not to mention! Two characters who have never met suddenly have an affir and leave their respective spouses. OH...and two women who hate each other because of a baby-stem cell-miscarriage issue are going to end up related...I jsut know it.

*blink* I'm so ory for that ramble...and I dont even watch the show first hand! My mom tells me everything about it!
