Okay, so I'm going to make sure I watch all of those first two episodes of Top Chef today, but what I've already decided is --

a.) The only thing that's really throwing me off as of right now is the same problem I have with other cooking shows, that I can't tell if the food tastes good by looking at it.
b.) I'm rooting for Stephen, the great big snob. Go figure.
c.) Billy Joel's wife is no Heidi Klum, but she is awfully adorable.

I see no problem with rooting for Stephen, but Miguel is totally my new tv boyfriend for the time being.

Oh, yes, Miguel is awesome as well. Cynthia's driving me out of my mind, though, and Candice just rubs me the wrong way.

Of course, I haven't seen the whole thing of that second episode, but still.

I love Stephen. He's such a snob, and he's so full of shit, and every time somebody who's not him wins, he gets this wounded puppy look on his face, and it amuses the hell out of me.

Candice really started to bug me with the way she reacted to the clients at Mr. S. The thinly-veiled look of complete disgust really started to piss me off after about five minutes.

Stephen cracks me up. I want to hate him. But I can't. Partly because he does have a good amount of talent and partly because it's so funny to see his face when he doesn't manage to win. Which sounds awful. But it's true.

*gags* Now that I've seen Candice's "Ew, leather fetish!" face ... yeah, she can just go screw herself. On the other hand, Miguel's giddy "Yay, leather fetish!" face? HEE!

She also got all icked out by the comments from the women in particular. Disdain towards your customers isn't very becoming, Candice.

How could anyone not love Miguel after that episode? He was totally enchanted by the idea and totally threw everything he had into the challenge. (And his dish looked AWESOME.)

Not to mention the outfit. XD

I'll excuse a whole bunch of bad behavior in the face of talent, and Stephen's stuff looks amazing.

Seriously, and he is amusing in his complete and absolutely dorkitude. Somewhere between the really great displays and the fact that he's made it to the judges' table twice already, I can't help but root for him. (And also the faces he makes when he doesn't win. Honestly, those are like gold.)

1) I am ambivalent toward Stephen, so far. He's very talented, but he also *knows* he's talented, and I just. eh. It bugs, sometimes.

2) I hate Tiffani. Cannot *stand* her.

3) I like Miguel, Lisa, Harold, and Lee Anne. Everyone else I either don't have a strong opinion on or haven't learned their names yet.

4) I like Ron, but he is no Tim Gunn. Or Phil. Sorry, Ron, the positions of Reality Show Boyfriend are still filled.

I think the reason I let Stephen slide (well, so far) is because he can back it up with his talent (unlike Ken ... ew) and every time he's feeling all smug and self-important, something kicks him right in the ego. Not like Santino when they spent the first few episodes kissing his ass ... Stephen just keeps getting into these situations where he loses his suave exterior and just gets completely flustered. And okay, maybe I'm looking forward to him insulting Candice, who I loathe with the fiery hatred of a thousand burning suns.

But yeah, definitely not liking Tiffani. And I don't like Cynthia much anyway, but if your father is dying, you leave the reality show. I don't care if my father tells me he's disowning me if I come home -- too bad, I'm coming home.

Stephen insulting Candice this week, I think, will push me over the line into actually liking him. Because oh my God, hate. I hate her and her puffy little face and her little *headband* (which is actually a good idea in the kitchen, but it's on Candice, so I hate it), and I want her gone.

I really do love Miguel, though. It takes a brave man to go around shirtless in a sex store when he looks like, you know, Miguel. And he gets extra points for the Scottish golfing hat.

Oh, her "edible underwear" thing from last week pissed me off even more than Andrea's nuts and balls thing. They both looked like stuff I could have made, which ... NO, but that just irritated me. It was a cut-out cake, for crying out loud. What the hell was so inventive about that?

Miguel's just awesome. I've got a lot of respect not only for his dessert (which looked amazing) but for how game he was to go all out when everybody else was still spacey.

I love Stephen, and I can't really say why. He's cute, at least.

I was so angry when Ken turned out to be a giant ass, because I loved his accent. Why couldn't he have been decent and a good chef? Bastard.
