Things tonight's wake and the get-together at my aunt and uncle's house reminded me about my family:

1. We're all pervs.
2. We're all not happy unless somebody in the room is being gossiped about without their knowledge.
3. Our response to grief is to cry for ten minutes and then eat and drink like we've been kept on a deserted island for the last month and a half.
4. Telling people on my mother's side of the family about the pentagram tattoo and the slashy porn I write gets a more positive reaction than it would with my dad's relatives.

In other news, the WB needs to stop taunting me with The Shawshank Redemption and giving me Tyra Banks and her stupid talk show. Blech.

I watched Deal or No Deal tonight, and now I have to go put corks in my ears to keep the liquified brain matter from leaking out.

EDIT: Haven't gotten the confirmation on it yet, but I just claimed Daniel V./Andrae and Sam/Jess at [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence. *headsmack* I think I'll blame Xenu.

Deal or No Deal is the PROOF that people are IDIOTS. There is NOTHING to that game besides very straightforward averaging and odds. For an HOUR.

I put on Doctor Who before three of my uncles showed up, boosted the remote, and put on Deal or No Deal. To say that they were lucky there was no bloodshed after that is an understatement.

(They ended up being saved because another one of my uncles and my brother kept making them switch over to the BC/Villanova game. Better the game than THAT.)

Gah, and you remind me that tonight is my weekly visit to my grandmother, who for several weeks in a row has asked me if I watch Deal or No Deal (forgetting each time about having asked me a week ago) and then assured me that it's a wonderful show I should watch.'

Then again, I'm usually sitting there on the couch beside her enduring Wheel of Fortune in the name of familial obligation, so it's not like she's got valid data on my TV tastes.
