apocalypsosOh, Stephen Colbert, guaranteed to get almost as much imaginary sex from this as Jon Stewart gets every day. *happy sighs*
Oh, my God, I am so fucking sore after last night at work. Apparently, I've turned into the machine operator to send newbies to when they need to be trained, because the one I started training last week is already running a line and I was the first person to get a second one last night. I'd love it because it's an excuse to slack off for the night, if it weren't for the fact that training someone brings the kind of bad karma that comes thiiiiiiis close to making my machine spontaneously combust. I'd ask to give me one good reason why I shouldn't use my only two personal days left for the year this week, but that description of them pretty much confirms why I shouldn't. *sigh*
I hope I can post the zombie story before I leave for work today. *crosses fingers*
I wish someone who's not me would go make me pancakes.

Date: 2006-04-30 05:22 pm (UTC)He was a professor at Bowdoin College who wanted to join the army but was told by the college that he couldn't, so he took a sabbatical and an officer's commision in the 20th Maine. He was a brilliant guy who knew five or six languages fluently, and taught in that divinity/rhetoric/philosophy sort of area. He was governor of Maine, president of Bowdoin College and winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, as well as a general by the end of the Civil War. I was obsessed with him in fifth grade -- he wrote wonderful books too.
