I'm going to the Philly Zoo with my mother tomorrow. See that icon? That's exactly what she's going to do all day long.

As for today, I told her I'd take her kitten to the vet for a shot. She's trying to argue that I should take the kitten to the vets, which is a half-hour ride into the middle of nowhere, on my lap because when he's in the cage, he bangs his face against the cage until his nose bleeds. Wow, that's ... uh, attractive.

This should be a fun ride, just like the time I took her one cat whose reaction to a car ride was to eject fluids from every orifice and yowl at the top of his lungs. And then I got pulled over for speeding. But you know why I'm awesome? I'm awesome because when the cop saw him frothing at the mouth in the backseat and asked what was wrong with him, instead of saying he was just going to the vet's for a couple of shots, I let myself freak out and said he ate something bad and I was rushing him to the vet. Heh. That's one way to get out of a ticket. :)

OH MAN...& I thought I had problems with my cat trying to escape & trying to turn me into a human scratching post when we take him to the vets. *whistles*

Taking my cat to the vets with her sitting on my lap seems to work pretty well. She's a lot calmer that way, although it is an experiance trying to drive and make sure she doesn't fall on the floor when I go around corners.

ARGH! Nervous cats should DEFINITELY not be allowed to ride outside of the carrier. And if you're driving, having one in your lap is INSANE. Maybe instead you could just fold a towel up in front of the cage door? If there are wall holes they'll still provide plenty of air.

Really, small pets shouldn't be in the car unrestrained at all, not just because of the distraction, but for the same reason kids shouldn't be in the car unrestrained - their own safety.

It's probably not safe, but I let the kitties roam around the car while I'm driving, but it's only 10 minutes away. When Leo was a little kitten and Tony right now like to sit on my left shoulder as I drive. I've passed by many a cop with them like that but luckily nothing's happened yet. :touches wood:
