I know America's Got Talent looks incredibly cheesy. And, well, it is. But it's a fun cheesy, and while some of the acts are downright painful, some of them are phenomenal.

This is where I try to sell you on watching.

This is Bianca Ryan. She's eleven years old, and you will have no idea how brilliantly she can sing until you click on that link. You HAVE to watch this, even if you don't watch the rest of these clips.

This is At Last. They are a group of Asian-American guys singing four-part harmony, and I love the way they sound. I also think at least two of them are hot.

This is Leonid the Magnificent. You must love Leonid. It's a moral imperative to love adorable gigantic gay Russians in desperate need of a hug.

This is the Snow White stripper. Who, let's be honest, is WAAAAY better than the sixty-five-year-old guy who was stripping last week. (And really, the best part is that Brandy SOOO is not having it.)

This is All That. They're a group of cloggers -- okay, tap dancers, whatever -- and they're AWESOME.

This is one of the best ventriloquist acts I've ever seen.

This is Bobby Badfingers. I don't know why, but I love this guy.

This is Syd the Kid, a little girl who's a comedienne. She's adorable, and hysterical to boot.

Now I really really wanna see this show.

Bianca was stunning. My jaw dropped. Phenomenal cosmic powers voice, itty-bitty living space.

I think I fell in love with that At Last group. I want them to make cds and be famous and do their silly pre-show huddle and, yeah, mostly make cds cause I could listen to them ALL DAY.

Apparently the Snow White stripper's a semi-famous burlesque performer. Not to get all feminista on Brandy, but I think burlesque is a beautiful art form and should be celebrated whenever it can.

I desperately need an icon of Leonid the Magnificent when he first came up on stage and Regis was interviewing him, because magnificent doesn't even begin to describe it. The wings, the silver loincloth, the fabulous makeup ... I didn't know whether I wanted to hug him, hang out with him, or raid his wardrobe.

Honestly? And I'll probably get flamed for this... Bianca has an AMAZING voice, but I couldn't understand half of what she sang. Maybe it was a sound guy issue.

And you forgot Sideswipe, the HOT HOT martial arts performers. I like them for I am weak and shallow.

I think it might have been a lot of the sound guys (who aren't really doing anybody any favors on this show, truth be told), but a little bit of Bianca. She needs to enunciate a little better when she's singing, but other than that, she's fabulous.

And I did agree with the British judge about her outfit and hair and shoes. She's too cute for that outfit, and all that pretty red hair pulled up like that? Nuh-uh. They need to take her shopping and get her a haircut, and she'll be PERFECT.

And I missed out on Sideswipe because of the stupid flooding updates around here, and I'm kinda meh on the clip I saw on Youtube. Then again, the Youtube clips don't look half as good as the performances did on the episodes.

Thank you for putting up these links, I think. After dinner we showed them to our guests, who know a lot about music & performing, and they thought Bianca's "look" had been chosen to emphasize her youthfulness. She's actually fairly physically developed for her age (menarche at 11 is by no means uncommon these days), but they (or she) didn't want her to dress "older" even though she could probably do a frighteningly good job of it.

So I guess we know where Judy Garland got reincarnated, eh?

As I said in my post blaming you for our future Wednesday night TV schedule (http://mecurtin.livejournal.com/346775.html) *g*, what really stuns me is how immensely better the cream of AGT is than the cream of American Idol. None of the Idol finalists can hold a candle to Bianca or At Last for musical talent or discipline, they're just in a whole nother league.

Well, that's true (emphasizing her youthfulness, I mean). On the other hand, there are ways to do that that don't involve that particular dress and those particular shoes, which I personally thought would do nothing for anyone.

Also ... heh. One more convert. *snickers* I think that's a big reason that I like this show -- the acts that I've seen that are truly great on there have nowhere else to perform on TV and deserve a shot. AI only takes young people in their twenties who sing pop, Nashville Star is country, etc. America's Got Talent is like the show for the talented people who haven't gotten their own reality competition yet. (Granted, some of them do suck, but some of them are pretty damn amusing, too.)

They have a video on the NBC website of this really pretty little girl in next week's episode doing some awesome yodeling. I can't wait to see her. :)

okay, so the Snow White stripper was awesome and Bianca was pretty awe-inspiring (and cute) and At Last? pretty cute too. but

LEONID THE MAGNIFICENT. Pretty much the sweetest and prettiest boy at the ball. So amazing. SO AMAZING. I want him to be my best friend. He was so sincere, I love that.

DUDE. I saw All That over Spring Break, when I was in South Carolina. They were performing at the Carolina Opry, and we got to go free 'cuz we were building a Habitat for Humanity house. They were by far the best part of the show. And now a reality show: go them!
