-- The LoVe and Piz equation at the end of the episode annoys me for a couple of reasons, one being that the connotation seems a little sinister for a generally nice guy like Piz and another being that any person that just casually watches the show without joining fandom is sitting at home going, "... huh?!"

-- A plotline featuring feminists faking rapes makes me uncomfortable. One misguided girl, I can buy. But more than one and I get all ooky about the idea.

-- Oh, thank God, Mac's going to be back next week. She stops suffering through huge assignments and dead relatives so she can come back just in time to possibly get chased by a rapist. Sheesh.

-- Oh, Dick. I love you. Continue being the biggest idiot in Neptune and I'll keep on keeping on over here, y'all. (How much do I adore that you completely spilled the beans about the keister egg to Veronica? THIS MUCH.)

-- The kidnapping plotline was meh, although I did like seeing Patricia Hearst again. Forgive me, however, for wishing she'd behaved just like a character in a John Waters movie.

-- Dean O'Dell can be a dick, but the fact that he immediately broke off conversation with Lamb to go tell Veronica that Lamb was an idiot and he wanted to talk to her father made me giggle.

Yeeah. I too disliked that equation. Though I feel bad for Logan! He's jsut concerned for Veronica! I mean COME ON! His last girlfriend was MURDERED by his DAD. Of COURSE he's going to be concerned!

And I swear of MAC is the one that dies next week...dude. PISSSED beyond all reasoning.

(i so dig Wallace's haircut AND that he hopped up to get that poor girl out of the line of fire. And that Wallace getting punched is what jumped Veronica into TASER action)

I'm confused...

So Boynip wasn't raped? Who tried to shave Veronica?

Well, I don't doubt Parker was raped, or that there is a rapist. They wouldn't go through all this and have a bait-and-switch like this at the end, especially considering the preview for next week.

But we know that Claire's was faked, and the impression's been given to Veronica that more may have been faked by her, Nish and Fern. It's not exactly a pretty proposition for three feminist characters who genuinely seem to want to help the victims get justice to have gone to such extremes, since it digs away at the sympathy some people might have towards the victims if it comes out. (Hell, look at Lamb. He's the sheriff and he's got a history of not being all that sympathetic to rape victims.)

I've been trying to match together Roman Numerals to the letters...

L=50, o=0, V=5, Piz could be numerous Pi (3.14159265)...

:: shrug ::

I'm not smart enough to watch Veronica Mars...

L(logan) O(something)V(veronica) Piz(piz)... I dunno.

My head hurts.

Actually, I've been thinking since the second they mentioned "no forensic evidence" - been wondering about that from day, one, actually; do these people not do rape kits? - that a lot of the rapes might have been faked, and that if some sick fuck was taking advantage of the cover to attack girls, there was probably some even sicker fuck doing it for the headgame-fun.

And then I was talking about it with my roomie, and one of us said: "What if it's a *female* sociopath? We have no idea..."

Agreed on the "fake-rape" plotline. The show's been handling this situation poorly all around, by stereotyping both sides of the issue (The Femi-Nazis vs. The Frat Boys!) and not bothering to present a realistic or thoughtful examination at all. It makes everyone besides Veronica & Co. look ignorant and prejudiced (which is okay when it's Dick, because he's funny), but it also makes Veronica look smug and self-righteous. I'm pissed off because the show is fucking up an opportunity to look at the issue, which is a huge problem on college campuses. I'm also pissed off that they're resorting to stereotypes; I attend a women's college, I did Take Back The Night, I am concerned about sexual assault--and the way those "feminists" deal with it on the show is so off-base from reality and lacking in common sense and negatively portraying feminists that it makes me want to scream. Why, VM, WHY?

Yay Dick, though. I will love him forever for coining the term "keister egg." I laughed quite inappropriately. :D

I also agree that Parker must've really been raped. It doesn't make sense otherwise.

On one level, it seems like Veronica's almost-rape might've been faked by the trio. On the other hand, though, there was only one rather large person waiting for her in the shadows, which suggests a real rapist. And on a third hand (or maybe the first hand, since I never used it back at the beginning of the paragraph) they knew which her car was in order to wait there, once again suggesting that it was someone who knew her.

I am totally uncomfortable with the feminists faking rapes plotline also.

Veronica and Logan should just both do it with Piz. OK, no not really, I just felt like saying that.

The equation sucked! I don't like it one bit. So happy to see Mac back and Dick rules!! Love him.

It was a title card on screen right between the end of the episode and the preview for next week that said, "LoVe (divided by) Piz = ?"

I feel the same way. There have been so many twists, so many unsympathetic characters, that I kind of don't care who/what it ends up being in the end. Unless it's Logan. 'Cause then I'm very much throwing my tv out the window.
