You're all fired.
Nov. 23rd, 2006 11:59 amWhy didn't anybody tell me what Dexter was about?! Shame on you all. This is so my type of thing, it's ridiculous. *downloads like crazy*
Meanwhile I've been having far too much fun reading the TWoP boards for Top Chef, where the general consensus is that Betty is a heinous bitch and Frank needs to be arrested at the most and kicked off the show at the least. Good, damn it. I'm really sick of the fact that this season is starting to feel like a middle-school drama with the popular girl and the bully picking on the fat kid and the nerd. And don't even get me started on how fifty-one percent of Bravo's viewers apparently think Marcel's behavior in last night's episode was worse than Betty's "cheerfulness." What the crack, man?
I'm thinking of taking a break from NaNo this weekend even though I'm ridiculously far behind because I need the relaxation of working on something else. What I really need to do is get all of this stupid car drama out of the way so that I can get it off my mind and focus on the novel, but with my luck that'll take all weekend long. *sigh*
What am I thankful for? Well, living alone, having a steady job, getting to write whenever I want, you guys ... you know, the usual. *hugs you all* :)

His boss has the dig on for him [I can't tell you how much that creeps me out because she looks like Tootie from The Facts of Life, only evil], and ... oh, it's just wonderfully messed up.

Date: 2006-11-23 07:11 pm (UTC)Actually, I'm not sure I really like anyone at this point. There are people I don't dislike and I am hoping at some point they make me like them, but right now I seem to be watching on the strength of, "I want to see Anthony Bourdain mock people. I like Anthony Bourdain. I would love a show where Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay bitched at each other, cooked for each other, and then bitched at each other some more. They could pick up random people from these other shows and try to make them into actual credible chefs. 'Around the TV word with two pissy chefs and their minion-of-the-week.' It would sell!"

Date: 2006-11-23 07:22 pm (UTC)Someone on the TWoP made an excellent point about how Colicchio made a big deal in that first episode about not being a mentor -- well, why DON'T these people have a mentor? Who in a kitchen doesn't need to have someone around to taste-test for them? In a competition like this, shouldn't there be? Shows like this are good because you want to see people compensating for their mistakes. Look at Project Runway -- you've got Tim Gunn there to tell them, "This is wrong and you need to fix it," and their reaction to his suggestions are usually what make or break them. They don't have that on this show so instead of focusing on their ability to cook and adapt under pressure it's ALL ABOUT THE DRAMA.
I think Betty may have dug her own grave during that challenge, not only with the other contestants by being a backstabbing bitch but also with the judges by telling Colicchio she only makes comfort food and getting an earful of, "You have to learn how to stretch yourself, dumbass."
