So, the current status on the FedEx Claims Bozos.

I call them to harrass them in a bitchy fashion ask them politely if they received and have begun to process my claim forms, and, hey! Guess what? As far as they know, they never received my claim forms! And I only had to tell them three times that my mom faxed them in yesterday. *eye roll*

I will admit, however, that FedEx Claims Bozo #1 sounded genuinely sympathetic that my laptop broke. Bozo #2, not so much, but if he had been a bastard about taking down my information again I would have unleashed the bitch and let loose on his ass.

Livid does not even begin to describe how I feel about this whole situation. I'm either getting a fixed laptop or a new one out of this whole thing -- end of story.

GRRRRRRRRR.

EDIT: I just started reading this New York Times article on one of Bush's ancestors and squealed when I read the following line: A bookish child, he read so much that he frightened his parents. Oh, man, I would LOVE to be described like that, except that my parents were positively gleeful that I read so damn much as a kid. As my dad said to my grandfather they used to just hand me a book and I'd go sit in a corner and read quietly for three hours, so it was really easy to get rid of me. ;)

I am seriously wishing you the best luck in the world on this. In my case, I got lucky because I was getting a brand new computer directly from HP, so when I didn't receive it, I called them (them being HP) after FedEx told me that HP had been the ones who destroyed the computer (WTF?!). Basically, the nice lady at HP Customer Service handled the RAWR rage for me and pretty much sent me a new one via express mail 2 hours after I'd called them.

=P If I'd been involved with FedEx... Heads would have rolled. Big time.

Oh, I am just waiting for somebody there to piss me off, because I will whip out my Working With Inept Shipping Company Drivers card in a motherfucking heartbeat. They're either going to pay Compaq to fix my laptop, or they're going to pay me the money it costs to fix it and I'm going to go buy a new damn laptop, and they're going to smile when they do it and LIKE IT.

Er, I never complain about anything to companies. I have a LOT of pent-up consumer anger. :)

Wait.
The *Shrub* was a bookish child? Did he fall and hit his head?

*pets you*

FedEx and such suck. Good luck! I do love whipping out totally-justified righteous rage.

One of Bush's relatives, by the wording. I can't remember my password so I can't check. =(

How am I not surprised that he comes from people who are afraid of people who read books though.

It's his great-great-great-grandfather's brother being referred to, back in the early 19th century, and the guy wrote a bio of Mohammed that was so well-researched that when it got republished in 2005 some imams started screaming about it and then actually read it and cancelled the fatwas or whatever.

*That* is extremely interesting. Do you know the name of the book? I'd be very interested.

And i wonder how they managed to breed all the brains out in such a short time.

It was mentioned in the article, which regrettably I can't go back and look at because either my work computer suddenly decided not to accept NY Times cookies or it's gone from free to paid-subscriber only.

And given that this particular George Bush died in 1850-something, it's definitely been several generations since.

that was the same thing with me. also, if they couldn't find me for an hour or two it was generally assumed that i was reading somewhere.

they had a hell of time trying to punish me if i was naughty, though. the whole 'go to your room' thing doesnt really work when i would just sit on my bed and read books. and neither did the taking away of the television because i didn't even start watching tv until i was at least 13.
