... I got back my laptop and boosted my dad's little screwdrivers.

*groans*

Okay, look, as I told my mom, if I could afford to give it to our family friend who fixes computers and say, "Do your magic," I wouldn't think of opening the back at all. My dad didn't want to in what I can only imagine was an attempt not to break anything in case said family friend did get his hands on it. The problem is that I have no damn money and I'm not about to ask a friend to do major repairs on my laptop that I can't afford to pay for.

And besides, if it's going to cost more than a couple hundred bucks, then I might as well go the distance and invest in an entirely new damn computer. And it's not like I didn't save everything important off the laptop already. Porn copied, documents on flash drive and on desktop.

You know what that means ... poking at stuff and seeing if it twitches.

Oh, don't give me that look. I'm not THAT bad. I just opened it up and looked around to see the supposed spill damage. Which I'm still looking for. Wow, it must be terrible. *eye roll*

(Not that I would know one way or another, but oh, man, laptop, WORK. *cries*)

I sympathize. Except my spill damage was pretty easy to find, considering the giant brown tea stains everywhere.

*hugs* I hope it works soon.

Back four-plus years ago, while I was jobless and almost-broke, my laptop's screen died on me. I couldn't afford to get it repaired by anybody, couldn't afford to replace it, but I was able to afford a used screen on eBay. I ended up learning a lot about my computer's innards as a result of figuring out how to open up the lid and swap out the screens... and I had fun for ages after that tweaking and fixing the machine until it finally died permanently.

*Gives you a big thumbs up!* It's a nervewracking step but if it works you're going to be feeling your power for years to come.
