That may have been my favorite Project Runway finale EVER. I loved all of the finalists, I loved the collections like crazy, I even loved the goddamn winner.

BIDDELL!

\o/

And you know, I could give him shit for whipping the damn collection together at the last minute, but that collection was faaaaabulous. I adored every piece in it, particularly that black coat with the zipper which I would probably sell my right arm to have even though I have absolutely nowhere to wear it. Oh, and that buckskin coat, homiGOD. I loved that he was inspired from Saturday morning cartoons, not the crappy ones that they have now but the real good shit from the '80s and '90s, and how it was totally some ass-kicking chick brigade. I love that he's an ass, I love that for all that he was THE ass, he was still a nice guy underneath it all. I love that Lucian burst into tears on the runway and the one who came over to hug him was freaking BIDDELL. I loved all the pictures of wee fat Biddell, and ... and ... *flails*

I mean, I love Lucian to pieces, but BIDDELL. Oh, man, that was awesome.

And Lucian! Um, I may have cried when he cried. He was just so great, because he did amazing work and put tons of effort into it and focused on his work, and the fact that he managed to make Rita CRY meant so much to him. Oh, and I may have wanted him to jump the blonde curly-haired guy in the front row at the fashion show.

... what? This is what Lucian does to me, okay? Biddell, Stephen, Nick Verreos, people passing him on the street, trees, mailboxes, I DON'T CARE. The man has sexual chemistry with everything.

MG! Oh, wee MG. I love you and your adorable dorky glasses and I could listen to you talk in that accent FOREVER. And the judges may have dumped on your collection a bit but I liked it just the way it was. (Then again, I'm a sucker for purple clothes, so ... *grabbyhands*)

Seriously, guys, if you're into Project Runway at all you should totally download this season of Project Runway Canada. That was a great ride. It might be blasphemy, but it might even be my favorite PR season ever.

Yeah, I said it. I LOVE YOU, TIM GUNN.

"One big gay Canadian orgy" is, I believe, how most social situations should now be described.

(Also, you may have convinced me to find and watch PRC.)

Dude, doooo eeeeet. There were just so many awesome contestants this season, it was ridiculous. And Nick Verreos shows up one episode! Every time I rewatch that I squeal like a complete spazz. :)

being in Canadia and watching it from the beginning ...

I loved Biddell cause he so struck me as the type that actually was quite sensitive, but he's supposed to be 'punk' and 'hip' that he wasn't supposed to be sensitive in his mind ... so he acted out - and therefore occasionally looked like an ass.

So the hug didn't surprise me because ... he got it. He knew 100% why Lucien was crying - cause it was the same reason he was laughing. The 'oh my god they really liked it, I actually did it', sensitive side getting control

And MG ... god. When I saw she had put those glasses on her models, it was such a 'this is who I am, take it or leave it' move that it was just awesome. I think the judges were wrong on the one thing they were most concerned about - that she wouldn't do that kind of design again cause it was different than what she was normally doing - and that opinion is all down to those glasses to be honest.

(however, I still think Biddell's collection was the most awesome. If only because Lucians ... well, abstractly I can look at it and go 'ok, that is cool and I can see people grabbing it up', but personally I looked at it and went 'umm ... those are like my grandma's doilies'. heh. I'm just not a crochet person.

Oh, and for the record?
The mentor on Project Runway Canada looks much better without the mustache. (he was shilling things on the shopping channel up here the other day. it was a bit of a surprise. heh.)

Heh. Yeah, he looks like a guy who'd probably look pretty good without the 'stache, and yet by now I have mad love for the porn 'stache. It looks like a really bad disguise. :)

That hug just KILLED me. I was just kind of mildly slashing them before, and now it's like, "HOLY CRAP WHAT THE FUCK DUDES." Heeeeee.

I loved all three collections -- they were just such strong examples of all three designers' unique visions -- but Lucian's was so pretty and hopeful (Rita said that and I was like, "YES") and feminine and light. And yet at the same time I don't think I could wear any of it. Own it, put it on a mannequin in my living room and swoon over it daily, yes, but STILL.

But Biddell's ... oh, man, I want to put on any one of those outfits and go out and fight crime unrealistically. Te more I watch, the more I fall in love with the green one with the little shorts. :)

exactly how I feel - his stuff was very pretty but yeah ... not anything I would wear. I don't think it felt grandmaey, which is my normal crochet association ... it just wasn't me.

Biddell's ... well, if I could actually pull it off, I would wear it in a heart beat. And omg that leather jacket with the basketweave I would so ... not be able to afford, but ... yeah. (though not in white. heh.)

The thing for the mustache for me is not so much the porn insanity, but ... he looks very much like the faded memories of one of my teachers when I was growing up, and therefore the porn stache + that memory just totally freaks me.

And the hug was cute. As was the moment you posted when Biddell is peering over Lucian's shoulder doing that little face, and you know internally he's going 'come on, laugh' to him, and you know that the expression on Biddell's face means he is totally absolutely convinced Lucian is going to win and is just grinning at him.

Definitely liked this version of Project Runway though. However, I am wondering who we had to maim to get Iman to come up to Canada ...

HOMG!!! I just finished it and I'm FREAKING OUT! Literally, I'm still crying a little bit . . . from joy.

Biddell SO deserved to win. His collection was amazing and innovative and everything the judges said. I loved his inspiration and his execution and just . . . it blew me away. I was reeeeallly worried about him when he showed up and still had half a collection to finish, but that's sort of his thing . . . doing amazing work under pressure. And to be fair, from passing comments and such, I kind of got the feeling that his living situation outside PRC was a little more dire than he let on. So, also for that reason, I'm glad he won, because unlike Lucian I don't think he would have had the resources to continue on in fashion if he hadn't.

And speaking of Lucian . . . I felt exactly the way you did about his collection. GORGEOUS, but not something I would necessarily want to wear. I really admired the effort and discipline he put into it though. And he made Rita cry!

MG . . . she's grown on me. Her collection was not at all my style, but I was really impressed by it anyway. I wish she would have done the glasses and flats on ALL the models, because that was awesome *g*

But the real amazingness? LUCIAN/BIDDELL FTW! ZOMG Before this I just wanted them to have angry!sex, but NOW! Now I want to write this epic verse where they get a house together and they're both amazingly successful designers and they're all snarky and competitive with each other, but it's just a front for how much they care and they have angry!sex that's not really that angry, but it's REALLY HOT and . . . and *flaily hands* And Lucian is totally the top Y/N?

And in conclusion to this epic comment that you are probably a bit freaked out by, DEFINITELY the best PR finale ever. But I'm still a Jay McCarroll fangirl

Glad I'm not the only one. He already said in the first episode that he got kicked out of his house before he left, and then we see him something like two months after he goes home and he's living in someone else's place. The poor guy was pretty much homeless, which almost makes that collection even more amazing.

I have this mental image going on in my head where Biddell realizes he needs someone with experience in the marketing aspect to help him, and so he calls Lucian and they go out for drinks, and he says, "So, want to be my numbers guy or do you have more doily dresses to make?" And Lucian just rolls his eyes and says, "Yes, okay, whatever," and then they get drunk and celebrate and wake up the next morning naked and sweaty and BURSTING with design ideas.

Kalan Porter? Seriously? (But what will the Jacob/Kalan OTP-ers say?)

Haaa, sorry, I'm just wandering through at the moment, but the blonde curly-haired guy? Kalan Porter, a Canadian Idol winner. Yeah, he's pretty luscious-- but he got worryingly skinny the last couple years (my sister and I have had him on Death Watch ever since).

Yeah. PR Canada was amaaaaaazing. And I'm so glad Biddell won, even though I was like... not REALLY fair, they put SO much work into theirs, but... his collection was SO GOOD.

Heh. I had no idea who he was, but I took one look at him and was like, "Ha, he'd totally bottom." *giggles*

I let Biddell slide on how much of his collection he did at the last minute because he's always been a bit unconventional about how and when he got his shit done, and besides, I really don't think they were making a big enough deal about the fact that the guy appeared to be homeless from the day he started the show to the day he won. He said in the pilot he got kicked out of his place, and when Brian went to visit him during his time off his situation was a VAST contrast to Lucian's pretty little house and MG's loft. I can't imagine how stressful it's got to be trying to get a collection made with a decided lack of equipment while trying to find yourself someplace to live. Seriously, it was probably more relaxing at that point for him to wait until he got back to Toronto.

Oh, I totally agree with you. I mean, I'm of two minds regarding Biddell- on the one hand, I'm like, "stop being belligerent and get your ass together!" but on the other... he's just very earnest and squishy and I want him to to succeed so bad. He's got vision up the wazoo and, honestly, I feel for him. I lived on the prairies as a child, and it's not what you'd call a creatively stimulating or welcoming environment for someone like him-- which is completely opposite to Lucien and MG's lives. Their situations are completely different. And omg his clothes are amazing. So, yeah.

Ohhhhh, Kalan Porter *headshake*. There's been a lot of spec about his sexuality, but there's been nothing definitive. If you can dig up any vids of him from Canadian Idol.... he was really good. Or at least I thought so. "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Nature Boy", especially.

I think I coveted Biddell's collection more than I've coveted any collection since Jay's during the first season of PR. It was gorgeous, and I loved his inspiration.

And now I'm rewatching because I'm going to see if I can get my brother to watch today -- he already sat through a marathon of one season of PR, although mostly because he was too lazy to change the channel, and I think he'd like Biddell -- and I really wish I knew how to edit clips together because really, it's like the Big Gay Love Story of Lucian and Biddell.

"I hate you!"
"I hate you!"
"Lucian's clothes are overdesigned!"
"Yeah, well, Biddell's a smug little punk!"
"Let's make out!"
"Okay!"

I swear to God, ninety percent of their talking-heads are about EACH OTHER. Hahahah. Even the editors were slashing them. :)
