So I finally got my Fly pen to work. I just needed to go get a new memory card for my laptop (you need to have at least 512 MB of RAM, which I didn't think to check, DUH) but I did and got it home and popped it in all by myself (and Geek Squad wants to charge forty bucks to do that? The HELL?!) and now I'm all set.

THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!

Oh, man, I love this thing. This is so neat! Finally, if I feel like writing something longhand I don't have to be annoyed at the thought of typing it all up later. I'm swooning here.

Pros:

-- If nothing else, your handwriting will improve by default. What I've discovered about my own handwriting is that I really have to stop writing a plus sign instead of "and" (which I already knew), my lower-case F's look upper-case, and my apostrophes need to look more definite.
-- There's a part of me that really likes all the dorky kid games and the extra shit that's on the pen, even if I would rather it were better at getting used to my handwriting.
-- My mom got me the memory expansion add-on, so now if I want to slap on some extra games and stuff, I can. (I don't really have much desire to put MP3s on there. I mean, I have a 30Gb Zen, for God's sake.)

Cons:

-- The notebooks are only about a hundred pages and cost something like seven bucks. Which, you know, I'm lamenting NOW, but I'm used to buying a notebook because it's so very, very pretty, getting it home, using about ten or fifteen pages and then spotting another notebook in Borders or something and completely forgetting about filling up my last one. I'm kind of a notebook whore, I think. (I plan on picking up another one when I get paid next week.)
-- My mom also got me the Journal expansion pack. Which is nice and all, and the book itself is very cute, but it keeps telling me to upload the program to the pentop every time I try to write in it. So there's THAT to fix.

I still don't get why they don't market this to adults. PRETTY. Between this and the flastscreen I'm so fucking giddy with my Christmas presents this year. :)

EDIT: Oh, man, are you freaking kidding me? That Sex guy from So You Think You Can Dance tried out for Make Me A Supermodel! They show him trying out in the commercial, looking as unsexy as you'd expect. Why, show? Why do you have to do this to me? I wasn't even going to watch you, damn it!

I do the exact same thing with notebooks. I'm trying to be better about it...this year, I'm working out of two Moleskines, and we'll see if I can be good about it.

Oh, yeah, I picked up one at Borders a few weeks ago where the paper is thin and brown like paper bag material and I told myself that's the last one I get to buy for a while.

Heh. I pretty much point-blank said, "I want one thing for Christmas, and this is it." Frankly, I would have been perfectly content with only this. :)

My mom was on point this year, honestly. That and the flatscreen and the purple coat I fell in love with at first sight, and I just tried on the robe she bought off QVC and oh, my God. Oh, my God. SO SOFT.

Heh, I identified two sources to get it from. Still, did not pan out. The family? Not that bright. *G*

I admit, if everything goes well, my mother will have effectively upstaged the pen, but I still SO need to get it as I am in lust with the thing *G*

Ooooh soft robe? *happies* I netted an AWESOME sweater from mine. Also a kickass one from my aunt and I'm just goig back and forth between them for they rule massively.

*snickers* Well, to be honest, the flatscreen more than upstages the pen because I've been trying to save up for one for two years and have failed miserably, and now I have a nice big TV I don't have a hard time seeing -- any scenes at night or in dim light you couldn't see at all, which made watching SPN an odd experience -- or feel guilty about watching pretty new movies on. (It comes with a DVD player, so my brother gave me 300 and At World's End to christen it with, since I hadn't seen either. I still have to watch 300. Woohoo!)

But, YAY PEN. I finally got the journal to work, and the best thing is that it's got this, like, card full of inspirational stuff where you tap a word and it asks you a question to get you thinking and hopefully writing. Which kind of just makes me want to tap all of the words all of the time. :)

So it's worth it? I saw one in Target today and was thinking about getting it. Does it say if it's compatible with a Mac?

Hee. Compulsive notebook buying ftw! (I actually buy any office supply, really, but notebooks and journals are my kryptonite.)

Egads, notebook whoring. Right there with you. I've an entire stack of them in my room that I just look at. Pretty covers, soft pages, what have you. And what do I actually carry around? Cheapo 99-cent spiral thing.
