... this is somehow the second time today that I've managed to watch The Thomas Crown Affair -- once on DVD and now it's on Fox -- and I continue to find myself amused at their arkward attempts to edit around Rene Russo's boobs.

Which I should mention even as a straight chick I consider almost criminal.

("Boobs" Count for today: 2. Heh.)

Mallrats edited for TV is fantastic. Makes you wonder why they bothered.

Mallrats for TV is almost surreal.

Makes you wonder why they bothered.

I think I actually can answer that! ABC probably wanted to cash in on Ben Affleck having a big year in 1998, what with winning the Oscar and then starring in Armageddon. It aired on ABC late that summer, and the ads really played up Affleck (not mentioning that he was THE BAD GUY, and certainly not mentioning what his character likes to do).

I was amused that even the ads for the Mallrats TV edit used an altered scene: Jason Lee's line "The fucking mall!" was changed to "The valley mall!"

Signed,
One with an unreasonably goofy fondness for Mallrats

The Thomas Crown Affair

Love that movie. It was so sleek and fluid and fast moving in a way.
