President Bush pressured the House on Wednesday to pass new rules for monitoring terrorists' communications, saying "terrorists are planning new attacks on our country ... that will make Sept. 11 pale by comparison."

*in awful French accent* Every time he makes some vague threat about an attack that'll be worse than 9/11, my ass begins to twitch.

Color me unsurprised yet furious nonetheless. He's been pushing for that Orwellian shit for months now, but Chris Dodd and others were able to stall him for a while in the Senate. I'm just without words that the damned thing actually got past the Senate yesterday, and I'm really hoping the House tells Bush to go fuck himself sideways and jump in the Potomac.
