-- Five Awesome Movies Ruined By Last-Minute Changes: The alterations to I Am Legend continue to piss me off.

-- Keith Olbermann's special comment on Clinton's remarks about RFK's assassination and how it relates to her not leaving the race. I'm sure she didn't mean, "I'm staying in the race just in case Obama gets assassinated," but it's not really a good thing that that was the first thought that popped into my brain when I read the quote, and it makes me exceptionally uncomfortable.

-- Just in case you missed it, I posted fic yesterday! For the first time in weeks if not months, y'all. I'm all proud of myself. :)

I really think I needed to write that, though. I love the novel I'm working on to bits, but it's not high on the comedy scale -- it's pretty much post-apocalyptic and the main character's not exactly a comedian, so ... *shrugs* -- and, hell, I have a much easier time writing comedy than I do drama. I've spent the past couple of days trying to come up with an original idea I can write the same way, so hopefully I'll be able to do something with it because that was way too much fun.

-- Anybody got any fandom recs? With the summer hiatus upon us and all of my reality shows not starting for a month or two, I need new stuff to watch. I've got Terminator and Reaper to catch up on, and I'm going to do Life On Mars and probably Gossip Girl after that. I'm partial to sci-fi and fantasy, and I've already tried BSG but I can't really get into it. (I know, right? It starts with an apocalypse and yet, I've got nothin'.)

-- I still haven't gotten to see this week's Top Chef or Step It Up And Dance, but goddamn it, Bravo, that was a shitty thing to do to a guy who came on the show to get money for his cancer-ridden mom. "Congrats, you're on the show again! Wait, no, you're not!" Lisa's still on Top Chef and Oscar's back off SIUaD. My reality shows, they are failing me. *headdesk*

File the serial numbers off and you could totally expand "I Taught Your Boyfriend That Thing You Like" into a novel-length gay romantic comedy. It would fit right in with stuff like "Sex Toys of the Gods" or "Blue Heaven".

>The alterations to I Am Legend continue to piss me off.<

Hold up. They did understand the point of the book and even filmed it that way... and then gave us the movie I suffered through instead? What the hell, man?

This is why focus groups are a blight upon the land.

The I Am Legend thing is one of the stupidest remake decisions in the history of Hollywood. Way to turn what could have been a groundbreaking dramatic genre film into just another action/fx/popcorn flick.

I'm out of live-broadcast fandom to the point of being headoverheels for a twenty year old Get Smart-style Cop Spoof, Sledge Hammer. (see icon) And when the first season 'ended' with a nuclear apocalpyse, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool if I could get Trollprincess into this show. Heh.

It's out on dvd! There's exactly four fanfics other than the ones I've written! Why do I keep doing this to myself?

I preferred the "controversial" ending to I Am Legend. That's the version I will only watch now. the original just irks me cause i liked the movie until it went into that one.

You're shitting me? You're shitting me? I Am Legend ended exactly the same as the book? Fucking hell, I might have actually seen it if that was the case, even though the book was a horrendous trainwreck of literature (excellent concept, possibly the worst writing I have ever seen, even above and beyond shit like Twilight and most fanfic).

Goddamn. I might have to rent the DVD now and check out the ending.

It's a bad thing 'I Am Legend' ended like the book?

No, I mean, the movie originally ended like the book, then they changed it. Sorry, I was kind of incoherent with rage.

That's almost as bad as the changes they made to the Mist. And Stephen King approved it! Dammit, I liked the Mist! Now it's just a stupid pile of stupid.

THe fact she happened to mention assassination at all in any way whatsoever makes me a sad panda; is she that much of a doofus?

Spoilery-response-to-your-spoiler:

I really thought that Janelle should have gone home, if for this reason only: When it came down to the elimination for the Broadway challenge, I feel like Oscar went home in part because Broadway-style dancing is supposed to be his forte, so he received a more critical eye. The Umbrella challenge was a hip-hop (or, as Oscar called it, an "e-pope!") challenge, something that we know (and the judges know) is Janelle's strongest style and Oscar's weakest. I thought that, if anything, Oscar did a better job than Janelle anyway, but Janelle really should have shone in this challenge, and she didn't. I'm pretty sick of her and her VERY eighteen-year-old attitude at this point, and I'm bummed that we won't be seeing Oscar in the finale episodes.

wow, i guess i'm actually the only person out there who liked the edited version of I am Legend. huh.

which isn't to say that the original one wasn't good, I just. Hm. *hands* I guess that I'm the lowest common denominator here? I look at the zompires suddenly being a new stage of evolution or whatever and I just do not buy it. I actually read the movie as a commentary on our dependence on the drug companies and *hand waves* whatever.

Forgive me if you've already seen these shows or are not interested: I

First have to recommend The Wire for being completely brilliant and the best show on TV, Pushing Daisies because it's entirely charming, funny, adorable and well written, Arrested Development, SGA/Doctor Who/Torchwood (too obvious?), Primeval (dinosaurs), Alias, Due South, Cupid and Carnivale.

I've never seen an old zombie film like that before and they are the most orderly lot of zombies ever. They look like they'd only cross the street on a green light.

I'd suggest Carnivale and Six Feet Under, if you haven't seen those. Both off the air now, but available on DVD :)

And you can look forward to Terminator!
