Remember that article called "Twilight Sucks ... And Not In A Good Way"? Well, the author wrote a follow-up to respond to all the people who complained in the comments.

As you imagine knowing the usual intellectual level of comments from Twihards when the books are reviewed badly, it's amusing as all hell.

Now, one of you make me a kickass icon that says, "This is a BOOK a FICTIONOUS BOOK". That sentence is a work of genius right there.

EDIT: Heeeeeeeee.

It ain't fancy, but it does the job. :)

Oh, that was brilliant! Thanks for the link.

I approve of the new word 'fictionous' and plan to use it at the first opportunity.

I just had someone come in and ask us if our copy of Twlight was in. I told her it was checked out, but I could put her on the waiting list. she seemed absolutely shocked that there are 152 people ahead of her. *eye roll* It's like Harry Potter for slightly older people with a movie coming out in November, plus a new book just came out. Why wouldn't it have a fricking waiting list??

In the comments:

"And I don’t want any of you b*tches telling me that I’m being imature or whatever ’cause you’re not my mom!"

Pure gold, man. Pure gold.

If anybody else is working on FICTIONOUS BOOK icons, I highly recommend that you incorporate a picture of Chris Crocker in it. Preferably with his mascara running.

Oh my god. The super-defensive comments in those articles are as hard to read as the books are themselves. It makes me weep for my gender.

It's so annoying reading those. I know really intelligent adults who like those books and can give a well-thought out argument for why they're good which ... okay, I don't agree with that at ALL, but I'm all for intelligent debate.

But so many of these goddamn Twihards sound less like you insulted their favorite books and more like you went to their grandmother's house and punched her in the face repeatedly.

I have yet to meet these mystical "intelligent adults who like Twilight" creatures you speak of.

On the whole, I've found everyone who reads them and likes them is a) really really not cerebral at all and b) has epic massive issues that negate any kind of definition of "adult" maturity being involved.

But that's just me.

Oh, I never said there were a LOT of them. It's kind of like the reasonable conservatives I know. I can count the smart Twilight fans and the sane conservatives I know on one hand. Possibly two, but not by much.

Oh, I read them and while I don't like them, I appreciate them for what they are: very easy to read and something which won't ever involve any effort on my part.

That's why I read them, since I'm attempting to juggle part time uni and two jobs, both of which require a certain degree of thought. ;)

Forget the punching-grandma simile. These girls couldn't be screeching any louder if any criticism of the books, EVER, amounted to someone pulling down their pants and placidly shitting on Meyer's keyboard for sheer unjustifiable outrage.

No, silly fans, that's where shit comes out.

Heh. They're a lot like Smeyer that way, where they're making it blatantly apparent that they haven't grown anything remotely resembling a thick skin yet.

I find it delightfully ironic that omgsowonderful!Bella can forgive her boyfriend kidnapping her - or her engine; maybe he's in love with that, too? - with selfless grace, yet her writer and all her fans flip their shit over people not liking a book.

Proportion, bitches. DO YOU HAS IT?

I believe I broke something laughing at the comments over there. The comparison to Malcolm X? And this overwhelming piece of praise from one of the Twifans: "Twilight is by no means the worst book ever written, grammatically or otherwise." If I were SM, I'D BE SO PROUD OF ME.

Wow. Thanks for the links---I needed the chuckle from the second, while the first just made me sick but it's not your or the author's fault. (It's Meyer's fault, and my own for not having read, say, [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's now-famous recaps.)
