A shelter dog? I think that would be awesome if they can manage to find one Malia's not allergic to.

(You have no idea how giddy this puppy makes me. You'd think *I* was getting the puppy. I have a new president I love, but OMG PUPPY! \O/)

Okay, if I didn't already love him, "many shelter dogs are mutts like me" would have killed me :D And, of course, that he's looking for a shelter dog is awesome.

As the person above notes, if there is a shelter anywhere in the United States that has a hypoallergenic dog, they're already calling around to try and get the Obamas to adopt it :)

There are loads of breed-specific rescue groups, as well. I remember reading that Malia wants a goldendoodle - I'm sure there's one somewhere that needs a home!

And yes, the "mutt" comment made my heart melt just a little bit more. :)

It's a big country filled with dog lovers who'd love to find the next president's kids a dog...I'm sure it'll be fine :D
