I was looking for something else on Cafepress and there are already "Impeach Obama" things for sale.

Are you fucking SERIOUS? He hasn't even DONE anything yet. I'm honestly tempted to email one of the sellers and ask them exactly why we're supposed to be impeaching him when he hasn't even been sworn in yet.

EDIT: Does anybody remember the name of that site where you can loan a little bit of money to a small business owner in another country? I've been wracking my brain because I want to do my something-nice-for-the-holidays and I thought that would be cool.

Whereas wanting to impeach a president for war crimes is, of course, silly. *headdesks*

Well, that would just be un-American. It's unpatriotic to say bad things about the president!

Oh, wait ...

Maybe they want to impeach him for being president via a democratic majority in a relatively fair and open election while black?

Either that, or they think that impeaches are delicious like imapricots.

Are you honestly surprised? The opposition hasn't gone away. Never will. Doesn't matter if it's not logical. The only point is to say it. Say it often enough, and people will find a reason to believe it. That, at least, is what they think.

Not only are there Impeach Obama things on cafepress, there's a couple groups on facebook who have over 3000 members between them. There's also a group on Digg.

People remain convinced he's a terrorist, socialist Muslim who isn't an American citizen. They've been lied to, and they're still clinging to those lies.

Easier to cling to lies than to have to admit to and own their hateful thoughts.

Rush Limbaugh has apparently already started calling it "Obama's Recession", despite the fact that THE PRESIDENT-ELECT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING YET. These people think that if they name something, the label will stick in people's minds, even if it isn't true.

Just this AM on the news, it was reported that several economists are only now admitting that we've been in a recession for almost 2 years, it's just that the administration put pressure on them not to name it. Names have power, I guess?

...do these people know that a president has to commit "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" to be put through impeachment proceedings? There's a reason it's only happened 16 times in 220 years, and only twice to a president.

*headdesk*

I read... somewhere (LATimes?) that one of the Independent candidates was suing the CA Secy of State to re-validate Obama as a candidate (or remove him retroactively from the ballot) because he's "not a natural-born citizen." That could be from whence the impeachment flows. Of course, that's a crock of horse-shit, because he released his Hawaii birth certificate shortly before winning the primaries, I think. Snopes vetted it.

Ok, I just read that as "Snape vetted it." Which would be completely different.
