On a completely different note, I got a bit sniffly last night when I was watching (don't hate) I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here. Brian Paddick, who is gay, was voted off and his fiance was there to greet him and they hugged and kissed in front of the cameras, and I thought how good it was that not only could they do that but that there were three gay celebrities in the camp this year and no-one has been seeing that as an issue at all. The times are finally changing.
That spot makes me sad because I can guess, with some degree of accuracy I think, how much hateful vitriol it will inspire as it makes the web circuit. *sigh*
That was *gorgeous*. Friends of mine had a commitment ceremony last year (cos they're not allowed to get married yet in this country) and, though I rarely get weepy at weddings, my hubby and I both got very misty at this one. Mainly at how the ceremony was just like every other wedding we'd ever been to, and how kind of... ordinary and extraordinary it was all at once. It was beautiful to see how much our friends love each other and gazed at each other like just-marrieds do. The whole thing felt a lot like this vid, so I'm all misty again. :-D
