I'm currently watching Arthur (yay for Netflix!) and since this is probably my favorite comedy from the '80s the thought that a.) they want to remake it and b.) there's talk of casting Russell Brand in the lead make me want to hop across the Atlantic and beat him about the head.

Also, if I hear "Footloose" and "Zac Efron" mentioned in the same sentence again, I'm going to scream. (Weirdly, I normally don't have anything against Zac Efron. Just ... NO. STOP THAT.)

In other news, congratulate me! I didn't wake up with a terrible toothache today. \o/

Urgh. I hate all these remakes. Did you know they're remaking Rocky Horror? Rocky frickin' Horror! It's a nightmare.

The only way that remake could even halfway not suck was if they cast Anthony Stewart Head as Frankenfurter, but the odds of that are pretty slim. Oy...

The only gratifying thing I've seen about the remake so far is that Richard O'Brien was pretty much like, "Uh, NO."

Okay, at this point, I think everyone who is currently greenlighting Hollywood's projects need to be corralled into a big conference room and have a talkin' to. Did the writer's strike screw up their project list so much that they have to go and make really unnecessary remakes. Not only the "Footloose" BS, but I've heard about "The Karate Kid," "Romancing the Stone," and "They Live" in recent days and weeks. These people need to be stopped. Next thing you know, they'll be remaking "Teen Witch" and "Big Girls Don't Cry... They Get Even."
