I figured out today that when the Oscar nominations come out on January 27, I will only be perfectly happy if the following conditions are met.

1. "Lost in Translation" for Best Picture
2. Bill Murray for Best Actor
3. Scarlett Johannsen for Best Actress
4. Sofia Coppola for Best Director (Sensing a pattern? It was my favorite movie all year long, okay?)
5. Sean Astin for Best Supporting Actor
6. Jack Black and the kids from "School of Rock" performing the title song because it's a Best Song nominee.
7. Johnny Depp for Best Actor

That's all it'll take, Academy. First four are easy, just give me those last three.

Oh, and if Charlize Theron can win Best Actress so she can make out with Adrien Brody when he gives her the award, that'd be nice, too.

EDIT: I can't believe I almost forgot Johnny! I feel shame.

You know, I watched that scene in the theater and thought, "Ooo, Peter Jackson's trying to prove that there is an actor behind the CGI to anybody who can't figure it out."

I still say that if that if his performance is ineligible because you can't see the actor, John Hurt's nomination for "The Elephant Man" in 1980 should be revoked.
