... no matter what the horrible scandal is that Palin committed to make her resign on the Friday before the Fourth of July -- although rumor has it it's a criminal indictment for embezzlement on the way -- this is my favorite political scandal of the year just as long as the end result means Palin leaves politics in shame.

(But I imagine most of you guessed that already about me. Heh.)

Now that you mention it, I think I almost like it better that there's no apparent reason for her to resign. It leaves so much to the imagination, such as the possibility that she only did it because she's stupid. Like she thought there was a law against campaigning for President and being governor at the same time, or she thinks this will somehow "get" Letterman somehow.

On the other hand, you're probably right, and in that case, it's pretty funny that she can't even fall from grace properly. You're supposed to get caught, then resign without warning.

I think my favorite thing so far is the transcript of the speech that's on her website. It's all these randomly capitalized words like ON and TO, a bunch of exclamation points, and lots of stuff in quotations marks that doesn't need to be. Oh, and my personal favorite, "*((Gotta put First Things First))* " is an actual sentence.

I can't decide who I think is transcribing her speeches, Torgo from MST3K or Sarah Jessica Parker's character in L.A. Story.

Not so much a law against it, but the speaking engagements to raise campaign funds while serving as governor (not that she could effectively serve as governor while trolling for money) could be viewed as a conflict of interest. (Not that that stopped anybody else who's done it.)

I was appalled to hear a local politico praise her vast experience and qualifications for the job of President. God save us.

I don't even get the people who are claiming she's got shit-tons of experience to be President. She's got six years as mayor of a dinky Alaska town, a year on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (which she quit), and now thirty months as governor of the state, which she also quit, and which she spent the last year of either running for VP or kissing up to constituents in states she's not even governing.

It's like a lil' Independence Day gift, isn't it? Though I fear no criminal charges are dire enough to keep Fox News from offering her a job.

Also, if Mark Sanford does not shut his trap now, I think god might resort to lightning bolts.

Alsoalso, if the charges are federal I hope the Justice Department has its house back in order over there. I do not want her getting off due to prosecutorial dipshittedness like Stevens.

You just know her most rabid fans will just blame whatever she gets in trouble for on the LIBRUL MEEEEEEDIA, too. They'll be thrilled if she heads over to Fox News to be petted and swooned over. Ugh.

Mark Sanford's a dipshit, but he's seriously gotten to the point where pretty much everyone's saying, "STFU NOOB," and it's like he developed hysterical deafness or something. It's almost getting painful to watch him dig a deeper hole.

Comment I saw over on Scalzi's blog: "She’s going to transfer to Hawaii for a year of governoring there, then to Idaho for a year, then back to Alaska, and in the end she’ll have earned the credits for a full term as governor."

BWAH.

And they didn't just put that transcript up on her website, they sent it to the Wall Street Journal. "Punctuation" intact.

I think I may be having a bit too much fun watching the handful of Palin supporters on ONTD_P try to justify this as a smart move for the 2012 Republican candidate for president. I've had "Schadenfreude"stuck in my head since yesterday. :D

I just want her to go away so much that I can't even really get that excited about this. I don't trust anyone involved and I'm too suspicious.

I hope like hell it's some delicious corruption charges and not that she resigned to take a run at the White House in 2012.

I want her to try to run for President so bad, as long as she doesn't get past the first week or so, because I want to hear everyone go, "Quitter, please--you couldn't hack GOVERNOR. You couldn't hack governor of ALASKA!"
