Okay, then! You win at maturity, I guess.

So in my section at work there were two other temps who were in my training class, one of whom sat in the cubicle next to me. She was very vocal whenever she had a problem and she missed a few days, but in general she was a nice person to have around.
Then came last week. There were tons of rumors going around about the temps, and whether or not our contract would be ending, and if we'd even have jobs come the first of March. We'd all been told that the contract would end in March, and that the majority of us would not be getting hired on, so it wasn't as though it would come as a great surprise if we were. However, the company itself was mum for the same sort of security reasons you'd imagine.
On Thursday, our supervisor called me over to her office and told me I'd be getting hired on (\o/) but the other two temps in our department wouldn't. She asked me to not tell the temp who sat next to me (the other temp who sat on the other side of the room called off the last two days of the week due to the weather) and I told her I wouldn't, because let's face it ... not my place. I spent a lot of Thursday running up to HR and filling out paperwork and whatnot, and by the time I came back, the temp next to me had already figured it out. (Hell, everyone had figured it out by then, as I found out on Friday.) After I came back from HR on Thursday, she confronted me, but in more of a teasing "I knew it!" sort of a way.
She wasn't in on Friday, but then again lots of people weren't in on Friday due to the weather. Since then, we've been texting back and forth and quite frankly, she's starting to piss me off. The texts went from understandably upset to basically being all, "Well, they're horrible liars and when the health care reform passes they're going to fire everybody and the last people hired will go first and I feel really sorry for you because you'll be first." I think she was starting to get pissed at me for not responding to some of her texts, but seriously, what does she expect me to say to that? Because I only barely retrained myself from texting back, "WTF is wrong with you?!"
For real, I did not fire you. I did not ask them to hire me and make you leave. You do not need to tell me that after finally getting a full-time permanent job, it won't matter anyway and I'll be unemployed in a few months whatever I do. Is it true? Maybe. Do I give a shit? Oh, fuck, no. It's a shitty economy and you work as hard as possible and hope for the best. I showed up every day I was supposed to, even when my transmission blew. I got higher daily averages than all of the temps in my department. I showed up for nearly every single day of overtime offered since the moment I got out of training. If you wanted to be hired, YOU should have done the same.
It's just so fucking childish, especially considering this woman is ten years older than I am. *sigh*
