The rear wheel on the car locked up. AGAIN.

Now, granted, I am going to the dealership tomorrow and I'm going to tear them a new one because this is seriously fucking ridiculous. That said, if I don't have a new (used) car by the end of the week, I'm going to fucking SCREAM.

I called my mom when it locked up, because godDAMN it, did I need to yell at her at that point. I stopped up my parents' house before because I'm literally at the point where every cent I have needed to go into the car this week for gas, and I needed to clean the cat litter but had no more garbage bags. So I went into the house -- they were both sitting in the living room -- walked right past them, went upstairs, and got one of the white garbage bags we all use as litterbox liners. From upstairs I could hear my mom say, "What is her problem?"

Oh, don't even.

Anyway, I drove downtown and put gas in my car, and when I went to pull out of the gas station parking lot, the rear wheel locked up. Cue me pulling into the restaurant's lot and asking the busboy who was standing outside smoking, "The rear wheel locked up, didn't it?" And he nodded and I said, "Yeah, thought so," and then called my mother and said, "When the FUCK are we getting rid of this car?!" And I also snapped at her about the panic attack and about not having reliable transportation for a new job and whatnot.

She then proceeded to be all calm-voiced and full of shit, being all, "Tomorrow you go down to the dealership and tell them your wheel locked up again and you're not going to pay (yeah, DUH), and then go and see how much they'll finance you for a new used car (yeah, already planned on that, Mom) and check out what the bank will loan you (... where were you when they wouldn't loan me one red cent for the last car? Oh, right, you were co-signing). But a new used car may have just as many problems as this one (show of hands, has anybody ever had a car that's had as many problems in a six-month period as mine has? Anyone? Bueller?) ..."

I just cannot mentally handle owning this car anymore. I can't. Screw financially, the emotional hit I'm taking every time something goes wrong with it is currently the worst thing I've got going. Yeah, okay, I don't have much of a social life or a boyfriend or a book contract, but Jesus hopscotching Christ, I need the car to work. If it doesn't work, I don't work. I can't get to my current job, and I can't get to any new job. And however awful any hypothetical new used car might be, it doesn't matter, because THIS car is awful enough.

What's pissing me off is that my mother seems to be casually forgetting that, while I hate to admit it, I can't get a car without her. I need a co-signer. There's no two ways about it. I know she doesn't WANT to be a co-signer, but I don't WANT to have to keep buying used cars all the goddamn time, and I don't WANT to be lectured about throwing money into this car to fix every little thing that breaks by people who turned around as soon as they paid off their perfectly acceptable cars and bought brand new ones just because they could, and I don't WANT to have to be a fucking mess all the time.

I really am going to drive this car off a fucking cliff with me in it, I swear to the Flying Spaghetti Monster. *seethes*

Gah I am so so sorry. Even for a used car, that is just not right. I mean we have a car from about 20 years ago that doesn't have so many problems.

Forgive me if you've tried this, but have you looked into carpooling with people at work or a carshare type program online? Maybe you could try something like that until you get a new car, if that's possible.

See, the thing with the carpooling is that I would be perfectly willing to do it -- and I work with someone who lives not that far away -- but to get a part-time job I need a working car of my own. The whole thing is just so frustrating. *sigh*

if I knew someone who had a decent beater? I'd drive it the hell out there and give it to you. What the hell?!

Damn, your family sure loves to scapegoat you, huh.

She then proceeded to be all calm-voiced and full of shit

Ah yes, the "rational" act, designed to completely invalidate the responses of anyone it's used on.
