On the "Ground Zero" "mosque" (I did not give him my opinion before he said this):

"Seriously, who gives a shit? Let them build the damn thing already. Why are we even having this stupid discussion in the first place? It's not like they're the same Muslims who took down the World Trade Center, for fuck's sake."

Aaaand on the fact there's a Burger King and a strip club within two blocks of that "hallowed ground" already:

Bryan: "You know what would be the most amazing thing ever? If they combined the two in one building."
Me: "You just want to make a joke about 'Have it your way' being a double entendre, don't you?"
Bryan: "Damn straight."

I'm keeping him, you can't have him, get your own awesome little brother. :D

Your little brother is awesome, but mine is more awesome. He takes photos of my mother with an AR15 documenting her evil for everyone to see AND sets himself on fire and posts the video on facebook.

Truthfully, I do object to that BK. They're always crowded to the point of being a firetrap, and they don't give out fountain water like every other place does - and then the staff cops an attitude about it, too!

Just a head's up; it's the cups that cost money for businesses, the liquid inside is almost irrelevant.

I did not know that. That probably explains why free water comes in dixie cups.

Regardless, they don't have to be rude about it. A simple "I'm sorry" goes a lot further.

The strip club near my house closed down. Meanwhile, the Burger King that yelled at me about not wanting pickles is still open.

EXACTLY. Nevermind that the "mosque" in question is two blocks from one corner of the site, is a 13 story community/cultural center w/ 2 floors of prayer, THERE'S ALREADY A MOSQUE CLOSER TO WTC that's been there since before it went up. Oh, and there's a Mosque in the Pentagon.

Pffft. Anyone against the "mosque" is automatically suspect to me (as being either disingenuous or misinformed), unless they actually lost someone in the attacks, in which I still disagree, but think they have a right to their emotional reaction.

I live here. I go through there on a regular basis. I'd be fine with them having a storefront mosque in the fucking complex, let alone two blocks (another world in downtown terms) away.

There is NOT a mosque in the Pentagon. There's a non-denominational prayer space where Muslims go to pray, but they're not the only ones and there's a Bible under every seat.

Fine, a prayer space (with Korans and prayer mats, as I was told elsewhere) that Muslims can pray in. My point still stands.

Except that your point was incorrect. There's no mosque there. Actually, that's sorta like how this building wouldn't be a mosque either. It's a community center with a place for people to pray.

The "mosque" at the pentagon wasn't my point. It was an extra, slightly inaccurate piece of data in service of my point, which was that if they can tolerate having a muslim prayer space in the pentagon, people shouldn't bitch about having a muslim prayer space at a community center (which I mention in my actual point) two blocks from ground zero.

More pertinent is the fact that there actually are mosques there already.

A fact I've already pointed out.
