-- I just finished reading My Life As An Undocumented Immigrant and it just ... it pisses me off. You know why? Because it makes me think we should do something like Go Back To Where You Came From for American television so that we might make some impact on people to develop a little empathy for asylum seekers and undocumented immigrants, and then I realize with an overwhelming wave of disgust that Americans as a whole don't have enough heart anymore to warrant it. (I keep thinking of that line from the first Men In Black about how people are smart, but a person is a dumb selfish panicky creature or whatever.)
-- Pottermore. More Potter.
*sigh*
I know I'm not the biggest Potter fan in the world, but I do like it. Hell, I have the Stephen Fry versions on my MP3 player at all times for a reason. But, still. WRITE SOMETHING NEW. God, she's like the George Lucas of fiction. I feel like that's an unpopular opinion -- as though everybody else is like, "Yay, more Harry!" and I'm sitting here being the buzzkill -- but ... eh, I'm not going to gloss over anything.
-- I really have to finish editing The Monsters of Moosic. I'm looking at three months in which it's been wallowing in untouchable Mystery-Option-Behind-Door-Number-Three territory, and I really just want to get it done and posted at this point. I know I have all of the time in the world, but still.
-- It's a rainy miserable day today, and it's only going to get more miserable when I get to work. Yuck.
-- I didn't get a chance to watch the results show of The Voice yesterday, but I checked them out when I got home from work and I cheered, mostly because I was right. WOOHOO! \o/
I checked out the TWoP forums for the show, and the sentiment seems to be fairly strong that Dia's attitude on stage is annoying. Of course, there are a few people who are defending her by saying that she doesn't perform without her sister often (they're Meg & Dia, if you want to look them up online) and isn't very comfortable because of it, but ... eh. Xenia isn't comfortable, either -- frankly, most times she's on stage she looks like she's about to vomit into a hockey helmet -- but she's sixteen, and there's an occasional glimmer of the strong unnerved singer she'll be with time and experience. Dia has time and experience, AND she doesn't look like she's having any fun, unlike Bev and Vicci and Javier.
That said, is it just me or are this show's top singers way better than AI's have generally been in the past few years? (There have been some really fantastic singers in AI's top ten or so the past few years, but there have been some really awful ones, too.)
-- NEW LEVERAGE THIS WEEKEND! \o/
-- I have become hopelessly addicted to Twitter. I knew this would happen, damn it. Someone send help to pry the smartphone out of my hand.
