I went to see Harry Potter with my flat-mate. It involved a lot more getting incredibly lost than it ought to have. It tooks us 3.5 hours to get there, and an hour to get back, and we were going quite slowly on the way back since it was dark and we were trying to guess the correct way to go. Oh, and this was on bike, not comfy air-conditioned SUV.

Well, this is northern california, it was comfortably warm. Well, it got a tad uncomfortable after 3.5 hours of biking, yes, and I was stupid enough to wear long pants since, well, I don't know if I actually own shorts (I think I may have one pair.)

I believe that I own one pair of shorts, and I've brought it with me.

Shorts are only useful for a limited timespan in Boston/New York, whereas pants can be worn year-round.

I wear shorts every day from late May to mid-September, usually, but I'm warm-blooded.

Yes, that's significantly fewer days per year then 365. I'm fairly temperature-agnostic, on the list of people who could get away with wearing shorts in Boston in February, I'm at least on it, but, well, I have pants. They have belt loops, which is good, because it's hard to find pants that don't need a belt for me, and it gives me somewhere to stick my knife. And pockets, gotta have pockets.

The shorts I wear have both. The only time I wear beltless shorts is when I go to the gym.

Oh, I don't doubt that shorts with those features are available, but they aren't as ubiquitous as pants with those features. Anyway, I have pants, and no particular reason to switch. Well, except for, y'know, things like today. But then we get back to my laziness, my lack of fondness for clothes shopping, and that even when biking for 3.5 hours, I'm not particularly bothered by pants.

It's freaking COLD in southern California. We got our first day of sun today in a WEEK.

There was chaos. People givng human sacrifices to the Sun gods of various indian and european cultures. Lots of badness.

It was 65 and partly cloudy a few weeks ago here (Cupertino) and my coworkers were freaking out. I mocked them mercilessly (I'm from New York and go to school in Boston, I'm in Cupertino for the summer interning at Apple.)
