Today, I got an email. It said,
Dear
trollprincess,
Congratulations! You're now officially the only person on the planet who doesn't have a Gmail account! Please have this Oreo we found under our desks, our deepest condolences, and 6 Gmail invites.
Sincerely,
Gmail Support Staff
So, now I have no Gmail account, but I do have a cookie. And some lint I scraped off the cookie.
Life is good. :)

Date: 2004-09-19 10:50 am (UTC)I have asked her not to. I am not going to set up a redirect on it just so that she can continue to do what I fucking asked her not to.
Especially since I told her to start with that I did not want a Gmail address and it's set up anyway. And yes, I don't check it. Things are, as far as I know, getting interesting in the rpg we comod...she's emailing the box I don't use for plot/mod stuff.

But sometimes you NEED ice cream. Where as the question remains -- do I need gmail? Who's gonna be sending me files that large anyhow? looks sternly at f-list I didn't think so.

Date: 2004-09-19 09:12 am (UTC)No HUMAN ever reads your GMail. A machine scans it for key words and delivers ads SOMETIMES based on the words in the email.
So GMail isn't any different. All programs 'read' your mail. GMail just takes that info and delivers unobtrusive ads 50% of the time.

Really though, it's a naive and unfounded claim.
