NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition said Tuesday he told President George W. Bush before the invasion of Iraq that he should prepare Americans for the likelihood of casualties, but the president told him, "We're not going to have any casualties." Another classy quote from Pat Robertson ... "Even if he stumbles and messes up -- and he's had his share of stumbles and gaffes -- I just think God's blessing is on him."

Just for continually having people say he has "God's blessing," I really, really hope he loses in November. Because it's one thing to get a political endorsement, but that's just fucking ridiculous.

Since God isn't registered to vote in the US, we should be okay :).

Yeah, after all He wasn't born in America or a naturalized citizen. Ha!

d00d.
If God's idea of blessing someone is to make them come off like an absolute asstard to the general public, I think I'll politely decline any of these so called blessings.

I prefer to remain articulate and intelligent, but thanks just the same.

... Is it just me, or is that not a very flattering picture of Bush in the article? It makes him look like a doofus.

"Ayup. No casualities!"

Or... How about we play 'Mess with Captions!' This would be perfect.

'Staring at the shiny object past the camera, Bush didn't notice the monster flag that was creeping up upon him."

Oooh fun game! Of course I think you've said the only really witty thing there is to say about it...

'Bush makes puppy dog eyes up at Jesus in an attempt...

Yea I got nothin'

AOL news always manages to choose the most-ass-tastic pictures to put up. I wouldn't be suprised if editors across the nation have 'bad' pictures of famous people they hate, just to run at appropiate times.

On a completely different note from your other responders, I think that it's really presumptuous to call what God has and hasn't blessed.

Of course, Pat Robertson is, in words and practice, about as Christian as the Pope is Hindu, so I shouldn't be whining.

Isn't one of the main points of christianity that you cannot proclaim to know what's in God's mind? I always thought that to say you knew meant that you were blasphemous, because you're claiming to be God.

And why, oh why, is God in politics in this country!?

The Christian right, of course. Which, incidentally, is neither Christian nor right.

I grew up Catholic and never heard that you can't proclaim to know what's in God's mind.

Hmmm... I'm not catholic (my father is), but I've taken world religion classes, and that's what I was taught about Catholicism.

Or christianity as a whole, anyway. Bush isn't Catholic, is he? I thought he was protestant.

Well that just figures. After Arafat endorsed Kerry and Buchanan endorsed Bush, Jesus HAD to get in on the action. Glory hound.

I know several people who are of the belief that God did indeed send us George W. Bush- as punishment.

Please. Does the Christian Coalition founder actually expect ANYONE to swallow that tripe? Fuck, there's casualities every DAY in the millitary. Even during non-war times.

And I like how someone with God's blessings can still fuck up. God is inconsistent. Maybe God has to run off to the can a lot and can't watch over Bush.

Reminds me of the recent cartoon in Rolling Stone, in ref to Dubya, Abe Lincoln says:

"Who's so optimistic, it's almost like he's clinically retarded!"

Well played, Lincoln. Well played.
