NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition said Tuesday he told President George W. Bush before the invasion of Iraq that he should prepare Americans for the likelihood of casualties, but the president told him, "We're not going to have any casualties." Another classy quote from Pat Robertson ... "Even if he stumbles and messes up -- and he's had his share of stumbles and gaffes -- I just think God's blessing is on him."

Just for continually having people say he has "God's blessing," I really, really hope he loses in November. Because it's one thing to get a political endorsement, but that's just fucking ridiculous.

Isn't one of the main points of christianity that you cannot proclaim to know what's in God's mind? I always thought that to say you knew meant that you were blasphemous, because you're claiming to be God.

And why, oh why, is God in politics in this country!?

The Christian right, of course. Which, incidentally, is neither Christian nor right.

I grew up Catholic and never heard that you can't proclaim to know what's in God's mind.

Hmmm... I'm not catholic (my father is), but I've taken world religion classes, and that's what I was taught about Catholicism.

Or christianity as a whole, anyway. Bush isn't Catholic, is he? I thought he was protestant.
