Okay, with a week left ... a show of hands. Who's doing NaNoWriMo? And just of curiosity, do you know what you're writing yet?

Personally, I've got a title, characters, and a location. A plot, however, is something I'm sorely lacking at this point. And yay, only a week to pull one out of thin air. But at last I have a very tiny purple stapler, with very tiny purple staples. :)

I signed up the first day, that's how masochistic I am.

I have a few characters, a setting, a general idea.

And this year, I'm giving myself permission to fail. Last time, there was much pain and suffering. This year, there will be much pain and suffering, but it will be sanctioned.

meeeee!

I have a story - it's based on the Hot and Gorgeous Club, a club made out of those people that make magazine's Most Attractive People list. And there is CONS-PIE-RACY OMG.

*raises hand primly* I'll be participating this year.

*flinches as BELL OF DOOM peals out it's haunting call in observance of the official death of my college career*

As for plot, I've got nothing. But it's probably going to involve a thoughtful exploration of something-or-other, with a side of dark humor and lots of smut.

Third year for me. I plan to actually break 30,000 words this time around. Setting, pseudo-plot, characters, outline all ready to go. I even planned my third week of vacation around Nano. How sick is that? I am deranged.

No ninjas, though.

I'm planning to work on my outline sometime this weekend when I go to the movies, because there's no way in Hell I'm not going to see either Saw or Ray. And since I'm not going home this Thanksgiving and I'm pretty sure everybody else here's going home, I'm going to spend that whole weekend writing until my fingers fall off. :)

Plus, I'm thinking of taking a day off at the end of the month to catch up as much as possible. Oh, here's hoping I can get both stories done by the end of the year. *crosses fingers*

I don't have any nifty office supplies, but I do have a Giant Baby of DOOOOOOOM!

God, I love saying that.

Giant Baby of DOOOOOOOM! DOOOOOOOM! DOOOOOOOM!

*raises hand* A lurker and fan here...

I signed up for Nano last year around the middle of October and had a fantastically fun time. I got my quota five days or so early (must have been first-time madness). This year I've got a much heavier homework schedule and grad school to apply to (*scream*) but I signed up on the first. I have characters, some with actual names, multiple settings, and a vague plot. One or two motivations lurk in the background but aren't too great yet.

That stapler sounds awesome.

That stapler sounds awesome.

The teeny tiny office supplies are the best things EVER. They're only five bucks at Borders in the notepad aisle, and there's a hole punch, a stapler, staples, a tape dispenser, a spare tiny roll of tape and a staple remover. Mine is purple, and there's pink and orange, too.

I really need to get the tiny scented highlighters. If only so I can own tiny scented highlighters. :)

::waves:: Me! Me!

I have a plot, basically, and characters - it's a story I've been toying with for a little while, but just got the brand spanking new idea that will (hopefully) get me over the plot hump. No title, though - I need to think of something, so that I don't spend a month calling it "that *#@(Y@ thing". ;)

^_^/ Me! *joins the legions of the crazies* I have a title, characters, location, and plot... but I have TOO MUCH plot! I have to try and simplify it, cut it down. D'you want some of my plot? Two bucks a page. ;D

*Raises hand.*

Yep, I'm goin' for it too. No pressure, just a whole month, and an editor who's interested in what the end result of my "book" will be.

Oh, no. No pressure at all.

Hm. Half of my fingernails are chewed off. Oh, well.

This will be the third year in a row that I've wanted to do it but been unable to because of one thing or another - 2002 I couldn't because of school, and last year I didn't do it because I still thought that [livejournal.com profile] onthestairs and I had a hope of adhering to our original deadline of completing the first act of Blue Flame by the first of January. This year, I don't want anything interfering with the writing I have to do for the Workshop.

Three different plot ideas. I just wish I could decide which one I want to use. XP I'm kind of torn between the fun psycho-assassin one and the equally fun fantasy one.

I've got characters, a title I don't like, a slightly morbid opening scene, and an icon. Plot? Not so much.

You've got characters and a location. A plot will happen. Don't try and force it.

From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Oh, trust me. These characters have so far proven that I don't have to give them a plot ... they'll just wander off and do something. (Plus, I'm having one of them kidnapped. That'll help. :))

i'm going for it for the first time ever.

so far i've got a main character, a sci-fi world background kinda made up and a book title.

now...all i need is a plot...

(all this and i'm moving apts in nov. too...sigh...)

I'm participating again this year, after having failed miserably after about ten days last year. I have a main character, a location and a vague plot. I mean, plot isn't really important... right?

I mean, plot isn't really important... right?

Heck no. :) I've won twice, and only once did I have anything resembling a plot... and that wasn't until day 6 or so. :)

Yup, going for my fourth year--I'm such the masochist. I have a vague setting and a possible main character, but that's it so far.

Yipes...

*worried look*

Maybe I need a tiny purple stapler too?

Me! As I'm currently shopping last year's NaNovel around, I figure I'd be crazy *not* to do it again.

"A Power Beyond Reason" is the second sequel to "Social Morality" -- last year's offering. I'm currently tearing my hair out over the draft that goes in between them.

I have characters, world, general plot, etc. One of the reasons NaNo works so well for me is that I don't outline. I open my brain and basically vomit story into the computer file.

And somehow it all works. :)

I don't have tiny office supplies, but I do have a shiny project-specific icon!

I don't think I qualify for this, 'cause dude, it ain't that I'm writing it because it's a virtuous thing to do, but my contracts backed me into it.

But yes. I am writing a novel this month. It's called RED LETTER DAYS: DEVIL'S BARGAIN and it's due to Silhouette on November 30.

Pardon me while I stagger off and cry a moment, 'cause I've still got 5,000 words to go on the book that's due in FOUR DAYS.

Does that count? Probably not. But I'm officially in NaNoWriMo, 'cause, um, I have to write a novel, and it has to be in a month.

Luckily, only 80,000 words. :headdesk: :headdesk: :headdesk:
