Okay, with a week left ... a show of hands. Who's doing NaNoWriMo? And just of curiosity, do you know what you're writing yet?

Personally, I've got a title, characters, and a location. A plot, however, is something I'm sorely lacking at this point. And yay, only a week to pull one out of thin air. But at last I have a very tiny purple stapler, with very tiny purple staples. :)

I signed up yesterday. Which means I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to write about. But I figured, what the hell, it'll be fun.

I'm doing it. I have no idea what I'm writing -- absolutely none. Though I did make a journal in hopes of inspiration.

You have no idea how jealous I am of you for being able to steadily write so much. :D

NaNo2002 caused me to give up writing for three months. NaNo2003 broke me.

On the 1st of November this year, I shall upload my carefully crafted icon, labelled 'YOU ARE ALL INSANE OMG!' It has a picture of a brain with an axe in it.

But, y'know... good luck and all ;)

Hee, hee.

NaNo 2001 was during my junior year of undergrad, with a week-long transatlantic trip during which I wasn't writing. (10k. About angels.)

NaNo 2003 was during my first year of grad school, and I got so bored and frustrated, I started randomly killing off characters. (Gaw. Not even 10k, I think.)

I have decided to save the crazy writing endeavors for sometime when I don't have sixty pages of scholarly writing to do. I plan on spending this November laughing at other people a lot. And I'm going to have to take a gander at your icon come November.

I am, which is completely insane because I have RL crap during half of November at least. I don't know characters, plot or any of that shit. Only this: SMUT. *nods*

I am and I even have a nano journal - [livejournal.com profile] nanoladybug218 - it's friends only, but I'll add you if you're interested.

I have characters and a loose plot.

I signed up a couple of weeks ago. I know what I'm doing - somewhat, anyway. I've got the plot and characters, and I decided on the setting and time period. I know what the ending will be, and I have an idea of what the beginning is. I don't know what the middle is, but I figure I'll make it up as I go along. Heh. Like most writers, I think.

Started out planning to do NaNoWriMo, but I broke the co-writing rule and we've already started writing the novel, so now we just call it our NaNo project without actually intending to put it up or anything. We have plot and characters pretty well defined, and it's looking to be awfully fun. And it has slash! The icon is what we use in our posts talking about it-- that's the title.

I'm writing, and I have an idea.

The great thing about my idea is that I don't need a plot, setting, or specific characters.

Rock on.

I decided to sign up after seeing how much fun (read angst) everyone had last year. I have no characters, no plot, no setting, no... well, you get the idea. I think I'll create a special NaNo journal so that its emptiness will mock me until I write something.

Me. And, er, I have a plot(too much of a plot? not enough of a plot? only time will tell . . . ) and characters, but that's as much because it's an HP fanfic novel as anything else(except for the fact that I'm throwing original characters into the mix - plot, y'know). Plus a hefty dose of smut to fill out the wordcount(and drive the plot at the same time - whee, magic sex!) and a lovely, complicated backstory. And I still don't feel like I know nearly enough about what's going on.

Anyway, I'll be posting bits at [livejournal.com profile] kinetikatwrimo, if you want to follow along, though they'll be friendslocked, so let me know if you want in.

Borders has tiny scented highlighters, too. I want. I want so bad, and I have no reason to own them. But they're tiny, and they're scented. *covets*

I spend waaaaaay too much time in Border's notebook aisle.

Preparing to fail a third year in a row!

Actually, I'm doing real prep this year. I haven't got much of a plot either, but I'm using a technique I keep hearing about (scenes on notecards) to do it, so I'm hopeful.

(I have basic info cards divided into categories, divided into stuff like "GHOSTS (malevolent)", "GHOSTS (annoying)" and "BIT PLAYERS")

If you mean, "Are you aiming for 50,000 words during the month of Nov," then yes, I'm doing NaNo. If you mean, "And you signed up and following the rules, like not writing early?" then no, I am not doing NaNo. (Though, to be far, haven't worked on the story in awhile.)

I have characters, a semblence of a plot, and a plan for a lot of really short chapters. We'll see how it goes.

I'm doing NaNoWriMo!

I have a title (sort of, because it sucks), and characters (kind of), and a vague idea of location, and a PLOT (or at least sort of one), and even SUBPLOTS. And I have a journal for it! Because I'm a dork.

But I don't have a tiny purple stapler with tiny purple staples. *cries*

*raises hand* I am. And my mother continues to substantiate my claims that she is the Coolest Mom Ever by signing up, as well. I've had the idea for over a year now, but it's required so much research that it was, like, mid-September before I felt comfortable starting it, at which point I just said "You know, I'm just gonna do this for NaNo."

Me. Third year going strong, baby!

I thought I knew what I was writing - a longtime story of mine that I'd never had a chance to really write down - but I think I'm switching to a sort of Chaucerian fairy tale type novel - something completely new. This is all very sketchy, but so it goes, eh?

Yeah, that would be me. Mine is for my senior project, and it's set in 1332-3 England. It's about a lowest class girl who runs away from a castle and lives in the woods, hating knights. Really better than it sounds there.

But I have the barest outline of a plot. It's going to be a historical, so I'll have all the actual historical figures running around being interesting. I just don't have more of a plot than "Battle of Halidon Hill" plus "Woodsy Girl" plus "Knight that doesn't realize his job sucks yet."

Fucked? Me? Kinda yeah. And I need a title.
