Jury recommends execution for Peterson

I don't think I've ever said anything about Scott Peterson, so here's my stance on the whole thing. I do think he killed his wife and baby -- however, I don't think they had good enough evidence to convict him and I definitely don't think they had enough to give him the death penalty. But then again, I'm not on the jury, so what the hell?

I just ... hell, this whole thing sucks, anyway.

I agree with you. From what I've read, there's nothing that directly ties him to her death. Yes, he was on a boat in the area, and that's suspicious. But there's no cause of death, nothing that says clearly he did it. For me, there's too many unanswered questions to use the death penalty.

The Judge doesn't have to accept the jurors' decision. He can still rule life without parole. It'll be interesting to see if he does. The official sentencing won't be until February.

I feel horrible for both families.

They convicted him because he was a dick. Which is not really the same as a murderer.

It's a bloody circus here. I'm staying at a friend's house right down the street from where the trial was held. There's TV helicopters buzzing the neighborhoods, and quite the crowd of people down by the court house.

I'm failing to see the real difference between what we do now, and simply stringing up the guilty. I can't wait for this to be over.

I'm curious to hear some of the jurors' thoughts once they lift the gag order.

I agree that he is guilty as hell, but I also agree there wasn't enough evidence.

HOWEVER, I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and am glad they found him guilty.

Yes, it's a breakdown in the system, but for the right reason. It seems like anymore things fall out of the system for the right reason so I kinda see this as vindication for good.

correction. I meant things fall out of the system for *wrong* reason. There, that makes a little more sense.

He'll live longer on Death Row than he ever would in the General prison population anyway. They did him a favor.

I agree. Death Row prisoners lead a much more luxurious life (relatively speaking, of course) than in general population, and are waaaaaaaaay better protected.

He did it. He knows he did it. Everyone knows he did it.

While I don't agree with the death penalty, he was judged and that's the way the law works. He's a white man though, so he'll die on death row. I seriously doubt they'll carry out the sentence.

I don't believe in the death penalty anyway, so I'm tired of this whole thing.

But as my girlfriend pointed out, the guy's STUPID. Do you
a)stick around, cry and play the sad boyfriend/father
or
b)bleach your hair, get thousands of dollars out of the bank, and run for the border?

B? We're sorry, that's incorrect.
...Nice one. No, it's not enough to give him death, and I'm violently against it. But, fuck. I thought we handed out brains with bodies.

I used to be in favor of the death penalty because I don't believe human life has any especial value in and of itself -- individuals have value, but just being human doesn't grant you a position at the top of creation though so many seem to think so. Now I don't for two reasons, one moral and one practical. The moral one is that our justice system is horrible about sifting the innocent from the guilty and too many innocent men have been convicted. You can free a man from prison if he's exonerated years later -- you can't unexecute him. The practical reason is that death penalty cases take up too much taxpayer money and court time what with all the appeals -- it's really cheaper just to give a convict life without parole than to execute him.

ditto.
and i'm not in favor of the death penalty anyway. unless, maybe, you've murdered 247,047,204 people, but still... they'd better have videotape of it.

it was more like, "well... we can't find anyone else who may have done it... and you died your hair blonde..."

I like what one of the jurors said about the case:

"If Laci had been found anywhere else, in a desert, in field, etc then we wouldn't be here today."

That is so damn true. If she would have been found anywhere else but the exact location of where he was at that day she was missing he would have gotten off or given a lesser sentence.

The media down here are crazy right now, I can tell you that much.

That's why every time I look at him, I can't help but think about (if he really is guilty) what an incredible idiot of a murderer he is.

"Where were you when your wife disappeared?"
"Fishing in the harbor."
"The harbor where we found the bodies of your wife and baby?"
"Exactly."

Oh gosh I feel so bad for laughing but LOL yes that's so true! I mean damn how dumb are you dude? :\

Honestly I think he's never going to go to the chamber because he has over 600 men in front of him so he gets the sentence of "life" if you think about it.
