1. Favourite type of story?
Answer: Horror, fantasy, romance, sci-fi, and history. Any of those things drawn into a story will always catch my interest. Anything with snappy dialogue or plot twists I don't see coming. Oh, and bedtime.
2. If you could save one moment of your life and go back and experience it again any time you felt the need to. Which moment would it be?
Answer: Okay, this is an embarrassing story, but I'm going to tell it anyway. When I first saw "Life is Beautiful," it was just at one of those times when a movie like that hits you hard. I left the theater, got out into my car, and cried for the entire forty-minute car ride home. So I sat down and wrote a letter to Roberto Benigni that ended up being six pages long. It was probably more cathartic than anything else, but in the end I shipped it off to his fan letter address in Italy without telling anyone and went about my merry way. Fast forward two months, right after the Oscars. I'm getting ready for work, and I get a phone call -- from his assistant. His schedule was booked solid due to all of the Oscars publicity and whatnot, but he'd wanted me to know that he'd read my letter, it had really gotten to him, and he sincerely appreciated that I'd loved the movie. I just kind of stammered my way through the call, but afterwards, I felt amazing. There was no possible way it could have beena trick, and it wasn't like I'd included a phone number or anything. And okay, as sad as it is now that it was Roberto Benigni, that was still the closest I ever go to Hollywood, but hopefully it won't be the last.
3. Favourite movie?
Answer: Aw, maaaaaaaaan ... I have to pick just one?! Wait, let's try it this way. Walk into the nearest Blockbuster. Remove "Glitter," "Crossroads," "House of a Thousand Corpses," "Simon Birch," "Battlefield Earth," and anything with Jennifer Lopez in it except for "Selena". Toss them under the first passing steamroller and go back into the store. Everything that's left is tied. Yeah, that works.
4. Are you someone who likes to travel or would you rather just stay in your own backyard?
Answer: I adore traveling, which is good, since every time I actually leave my backyard, I get lost and end up in interesting places like Bethesda or Guam or Madagascar. It's just a shame I can't afford to go anywhere cool on purpose.
5. Most frightening experience you've ever had?
Answer: I don't know, I'm still having nightmares about that Arnie-in-a-Speedo thing. Okay, okay ... seriously? The moment I realized I'd flunked out of college. I've never been so afraid before in my life, and I'm not sure I ever will again. Then again, I was such an emotional wreck back then (as opposed to the rock of emotional stability I am now *eye roll*) that my frantic reactions thereafter were unfortunately understandable.
Ugh. Seriously need to finish questions for other people. I've got four or five more people left, and I think I've killed all of my muses. Well, either that, or they're drunk again. Damn it, I hate it when they do that. That's it, no more Orlando Bloom pictures for them. That'll show them. See if I give them any more fodder for those wild, tempestuous orgies they're all so keen on engaging in in my head. Do you have any idea how hard it is to try and disinfect a cerebellum without drilling a hole into your temple first? I already got in trouble the last time I drilled a hole in my forehead because the evil forces got out, ran up my dad's credit cards, put Marti in charge of the writing staff on BtVS, and kept "Frasier" on for another season.
(Don't worry, though. The evil forces are not allowed to use the phone anymore. Or the Neilsen box. Or Joss's foul, overworked creative sensibilities. Although they are allowed to use Frasier's dog, but I don't even want to know what they've done to it. Or, truth be told, where the hot dogs they brought back with them came from.)
Oh, and I'm curious ... other than those Misfits whom I already know are going to Dragoncon to be ambushed with nasty talk of autopsy photos by yours truly, is anybody else on my friends list headed off to Atlanta in two weeks? (Or less, come to think of it. *user bounces up and down happily*)
