Oh, crap. I just became that person who didn't know it was snowing until somebody else mentioned it on LJ. *headsmack*

EDIT: If anybody wants to see a clearer version of the Fantastic Four trailer, here it is. So far, I don't really have any misgivings. I mean, the Doctor Doom thing ... yeah. It's a stretch of the canon, but then again, they've stretched canon before in X-Men so that it'll fit the film, so I'm leaving it leeway until I actually see the movie. (Now? Can I see it now? Pleeeeeease?)

I've got a window behind me, and until someone in my office yelled "hey, it's snowing," I had no idea . . .

Wheeeee-downtown DC with inaugural security AND snow! Aren't I going to have an exciting afternoon!

Oh, God, don't even get me started on the inauguration. All the fun of extra security and all of the businesses closing making my job that much more difficult tomorrow, and then we get the fun of those radio commercials that refer to it as the first inauguration since September 11th. That's it, ride that train right into the next presidential term. *grrrrr*

Well, it's snowing in DC. What makes it even more depressing is that the first person I saw on LJ who mentioned it was snowing lives in North Carolina. Which made me turn around excitedly, because I'm a dumbass who temporarily forgot geography.

The sick thing is, I really want to go, and I can't. I know it's Bush and I loathe the man, but I've never seen a presidential inauguration.

Ugh-you have to work tomorrow? Good lord. I live three blocks from work and I still don't have to come in. Jesus H. Christo.

Given how bad traffic was in my neighborhood during the recent Rite Aid and Mystery Van fiascos, I can't even fathom what tomorrow is going to be like . . .

I went to Clinton's inaug in 1997. I was a sophomore in college. I stood in the not the furthest but not the nearest section. Clinton looked to be the size of a Han Solo action figure. It was crowded and freezing and I was on my feet for HOURS, but I was excited because it was A, the first presidential election I voted in, and B, I liked the guy.

Hopefully in four years, there will be an inauguration to go for you with a better President. And it will be warmer . . .

I was almost one of those people :) But I happened to be sitting on the couch about an hour ago when it startes snowing here, so I saw the first flakes.

My sympathies to you and everyone else who's going to be commuting this afternoon and tomorrow. I know how bad the DC area is under *normal* snow conditions, but snow plus the inauguration...

But spare a thought for my poor husband, who works in Baltimore and has to drive in this weather with the idiots. ::sigh::

The reason I'm excited is because I'm from PA, and normally by now I've seen at least a couple of blizzards and enough snow to make me tired of it. Here, it's January 19th, and this is the first real snow I've seen this winter. If only it would have done it on the weekend, I'd be perfectly thrilled.

I couldn't live without snow in the winter. I hate it when it gets cold, but I adore the snow. :)

Don't worry. I saw your post and reflexively turned toward my own window, not bothering to think about the fact that you're in DC and I'm in Philly. It's not snowing here.

They said it might snow here later tonight. Presumably that's because you'll be sending your snow up our way. You know, you can keep it. :)

Date: 2005-01-19 04:18 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Hee. I wish I could keep it. At least, I wish I could hold onto it and save it for the weekend. Having it on a workday is nice, but having it to watch this weekend would be wonderful. :)

Yeah. I work at a museum and they wouldn't give me the day off. Thank god that I only work there for another two week and a half. Come to me, new job with paid federal holidays!

I'm taking metro like usual, but I figure that I'll be leaving home even earlier than usual.

Wouldn't it be nice if we'd have warm snow? Instead of frozen water we'd have crack! Wouldn't that be awesome? :)

I'd much prefer a snowy winter myself. It's all cold and rainy outside and what's the fun in that?

I'm in Tampa, Florida. It doesn't snow here, so I'm exempt. I can't be that person. I almost feel left out.

I went to Bush 1's inauguration, I think, when I was 8. My parents didn't vote for him, but we were doing all of those 'character building' things. I was cold, thirsty, and my feet hurt. That's about all I remember.

I flip Jeb Bush's house off every time I drive past it, though. That's gotta count for something.

Well. Not of Ultimate-canon. I've got mixed feelings about it there, too, but it looks like a fair amount of the movie premise is derived from Ultimate rather than 616-canon.

Makes sense. The further we get from the 60s, the further we get from the spaceflight premise of the 616 version being relevant. (Then again, I had no real problem with organic webshooters, so I may be in the minority here.)

And they used "Counting Bodies like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums" as BGM. Anything that gets that tune in more ears can't be bad.

More likely that Ultimate FF was deliberately trying to fit more with whatever Marvel had seen of the movie's script when the first issue came out. UFF only came out in the last year or so, and I can't see the movie people finding the comic so brilliant that they dropped their existing plans in favor of it.

I don't know. ULT-FF #1 came out over a year ago. I've gathered that most of the shooting of the film occurred over the fall. Script influence could've gone either way, especially the way these kinds of films tend to run through radical revisions like a kid with a cold runs through Kleenex.
