apocalypsos: (boo writing)

Okay, so last night I had this idea. And apparently, it was still in my head when I woke up. So, a few questions.

1. What would be a good name for a community like that? It's too early, and I'm drawing blanks.

2. Would anyone else beside me even be interested in writing these things for a community? I mean, interest in reading it is one thing. Interest in writing for it is another.

EDIT: I just realized that discounting drinks, all I've had to eat for the past two days is an apple, a can of tuna fish, a buffalo wing, and three cinnamon breadsticks. And I wonder why I'm so hungry right now. *headsmack*

hi,

i've commented on your journal before but i dont think we've been formally introduced, so, hello.

were there to be a comm like that i would gladly write up movies for it, i like the "one a month" thing. and dont worry, when i do write for people to see (other than my private LJ) i do capitalise and use proper grammar.

keep us up to date on the developments... and yeah, maybe watching "Daylight" before bed isint that great of an idea ;)

cheers!

m

I'd consider taking a writing stab.

If you need someone to take a stab at bad horror movies, I'd be happy to give it a shot. Used to do movie reviews for the newsletter of my library until the letter got axed. And there are a TON of bad horro mmovies floating around.

as for a name *ponders*

bad_is_good, fun_with_flicks, ow_my_brain (heh I like that one), or bad_movie_fun. (None of those are registered, I checked)

I've put links to your posts up on my LJ; there are some folks there who do a great line in snark, one of whom ravaged Dark Shadows (http://www.personalephemera.com/ds/index.html) hilariously.

As for a community title - what about "MovieMock"?

I'm the worst with names, so I can't help you with that part, but if the required minimum was only ONE a month, that's something I'd be interested in trying to write - god knows I've watched enough cheesy bad movies over time (secretly loving them of course).

I'd love to try writing one. I'll see if I can practice doing one soon. I'm no good with names, though, sorry.

... this idea calls to me. Loudly. I have a large collection of bad movies and I'd love the chance to tell other poor fools interested people about them...

1. My creativity is shot after seeing SNOW on the ground in SPRING T_T

2. I would totally write those things. I love sporking bad fiction, so I would totally spork bad movies XD

Do you really think so? In my experience it is easier to find writers, or visual artists, than people to read or feedback.

I love the idea.

I suggest ripping off the Medved brothers' book about spectacularly bad movies, The Golden Turkey Awards, and calling the comm "Golden Turkeys."

Hi!

I was browsing Miss Moneypenny's flist when I found this. I would be interested in taking a shot at writing one. I love movies that are so bad they are good. We actually call them Awesomely Bad movies. (I was actually disappointed when Constatine turned out to be good rather than awesomely bad. It had such awesomely bad potential!)

For an example of my movie recapping ability please check out the link: http://www.livejournal.com/users/scarlett78/16050.html

What a great idea!

Someone on my flist was looking for a community like this to contribute to just a few weeks ago.

Maybe something like "BCDrecs"? As in B- C- and D-movies?

I think you can find interested people---I've seen people who are regular fans of such movies and write about them. (See also, the Something Awful movie reviews, although they mostly snark instead of recommending.) But I am such a movie illiterate that I cannot put myself forward...

"Merciless Movies," in that the movies won't let up on the suck.

1. I like the idea of a b-movie mock 'vision' title. Like they used to do MONSTERVISION! or 3D-O-SCOPE! or PANA-ROMA-UNI-VISI-SCOPE! when it was all 8mm to begin with, but the 'vision' thing made your movie more legit. *snicker* Only for this community, maybe something like "mock-o-scope". Yeah? No? Meh.

2. I'm game. I've got Netflix and I've done my fair share of book reviewing and a couple of movie summaries. For samples of my work:

Sid vs. Gangster No. 1

Sid vs. The Bible

Kisses!

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] sent me on over. I'd be interested in writing some, depending on how much free time I have (never enough, admittedly).

Hiya...

This is one of the best ideas for a comm I've seen. I created the [livejournal.com profile] badmovieland community a few years ago, though I haven't really done what you'd call "maintaining" it in a very long time. It has modest posting traffic, it doesn't really need my help at this point.

I respectfully request to be taken on as a writer for the community. Samples of film reviews I've done for my personal journal can be presented upon request. I've taken the liberty of reading some of your stuff and feel that our writing styles are at the very least compatible.

Should you accept my humble request, I also ask that I may take on 'Brat Pack movies' as a genre.

Okay, I've got you all added to the list and given posting access. You can start working on a summary any time -- the deadline is basically any time in April for the first summary. :)
