And the Mother of the Year award goes to ... Seriously, "Typical Nicky, he wouldn't listen to me"? What the fuck? She has an aggressive dog in the house and she keeps her son in the basement? Yeah, that makes sense. *gags*

In other news, I stayed home instead of going to see DaVinci's Notebook (damn it) to work on the monster ficathon entry of dooooooooooom. I ended up cutting out the stuff for the sequel and added a bunch of other stuff, and now I'm over 14k. Hee. One little bit at a time. ;)

EDIT: Yay! USA's replaying the 4400 premiere! *flails* (Yes, I'm a wee bit obsessed. But everybody else is fixated on Doctor Who, and for some of us, it's a bitch to download, AND some of us are also one of the few 4400 watchers around, so we have to make up for it for mindless, one-track fixation. ;P)

We seriously do need breeding licences on this planet. That quote made me want to hit her with a shovel. Her sheer stupidity has got her child killed (not to mention one, and possibly both, of her dogs), and what's her reaction?

"It's Nicky's time to go."

... How can they not be filing charges? Oh yeah, stupidity isn't a crime.

Sure it is. Child Endangerment charges might be possible, just from reading the reactions here - I don't know if I could stomach clicking the link. :>

Yeah, it's his time to go because you locked him in the basement while there was an agressive dog upstairs. People sometimes, just sickening:(

Dude. Just....Dude. It's people like that that give Pits a bad name. "We were never seeing any kind of violent tendencies." Yeah, lady, which is why you locked your son in the basement. I'm sure. And which is why the female dog was shot to death by the cops.

Understand, I like Pit Bulls, and would own one if I was single and had no other dogs or cats. But I also understand that it's a breed you cannot be careless with. They're strong, they're aggressive, and they're not afraid of anything.

And the whole "It's Nicky's time to go," she said in the interview. "When you're born you're destined to go and this was his time." W. T. F. That's a pretty *cough* philosophical *cough* way of looking at your kid's death. o.O

People can be SUCH idiots...

Note also that the female dog was in heat.

As in, she didn't spay or neuter her pets, and kept a male and a female one together.

Whoever mentioned breeding licenses upthread? Amen, and that goes for pets as well as children.

*looks at own female pet, who will not go into heat ever again, because she doesn't have the equipment, and that's good*

I will totally agree with that.

That's just mind-boggling. Why would you shut your child in the basement instead of your overly aggressive dogs??

And how can you be so blase about the death of your child - it's his time????

"Typical Nicky, he wouldn't listen to me"

Oh, that wacky kid! He escaped from the basement and got mauled to death.

That sounds a little bit too jocular to be talking about something resulting in her son's death. It's the kind of statement I would expect to be followed by something a little less serious. As in, "Typical Nicky, he wouldn't listen to me. He started making the brownies on his own and got brownie batter all over the kitchen!"

And saying that it was his time to go?!

This woman is far too blase about her son's death.

Ya know, we're not just blowing hot air when we tell you to spay and neuter your dogs. They were acting aggressive because she was in heat. A pit bull might make a nice pet, I don't know, UNTIL IT'S GOT A REASON TO ACT AGGRESSIVE. But I bet the bitch (the mom, not the dog) was planning on breeding them for money. Much more important than keeping your kids safe, right?

Hee. I am amused, because the Doctor Who/4400 situation is reversed for me. I can watch the Doctor on TV, but if I want to see 4400 sometime before, say, next year, I've gotta download it- which seems unfair, somehow, since the show is filmed in my hometown.

Paragraph 1: OMG WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I'd heard about it but not the details. After reading her quote, I'm left sitting here and thinking... "So, she'll breed a new kid and get a new pair of dogs and she can do this again in a few years." 'Cause, she's sure as shit not had her tubes tied and is the type who'll decide that, since she's short a kid, it must be time to try it again, right? And, considering that, as others have said, the dogs weren't neutered and she's probably in the puppy mill business, she'll have to get more dogs to get back in business. Aaaaaauuuuugggghhh!!

Paragraph 2: DaVinci's Notebook? Yer a fan? YAY!!! We've only had them out here in Southern California a few times and not for the last couple of years. (Of course, their being broken up for part of that time might have had something to do with that.) They're *FANFREAKINTASTIC* in my book! I just wish the had some dates scheduled in SoCal this summer. I've got a couple of their CDs and had a blast presenting my daughter with an "Enormous Penis" EP for her 17th birthday a few years ago...and she greatly enjoyed being able to break quite a few of her friends by playing it for them. ;>

Paragraph 3: Yay, 4400! And yaaaaaay Season 2! :) (Also, yay Doctor Who, but I don't get BBC so it'll be awhile before I see the new season. *sigh*

There was a kid in our city killed by a couple of pit bulls a few weeks ago- his dad had like $3600 in cash and some crack in a safe, the kid was really young, and there were 4 pit bulls in the yard. He got 20 years to life. It should be the same. If you're that worried about your child, you should know that they're endangered.
Also, "It's his time to go" is never the case for a 12 year old.

One is already dead, she's having the other killed.

Which, okay, understandable, but still - it's her own stupid as fuck fault. I mean, at the very least she should have shut the dogs up and left the child running loose. Really, she shouldn't have even considered leaving him alone in the house with a couple of purpose-bred killing machines under any circumstances.
