Nov. 9th, 2005 02:21 amBecause I couldn't wait anymore, I went into the kitchen and whipped together this maple cheesecake recipe. Which means that after it chills tonight, I'll get to award myself for writing tomorrow with cheesecake that tastes like pancakes. Yay! *happy flails* :)
And while I was in there, I thought about that "5 simple things that make me happy" meme and realized that a lot of the simple things I love are scents.
1. Rain. You know, that rich smell right before a rainstorm.
2. Fresh-cut grass. That's a nice summery smell.
3. Pancakes and maple syrup. Well, obviously, considering most of my favorite foods taste like pancakes, but still. That scent always makes my stomach growl.
4. Pumpkin spice. Any candle or air freshener with that scent comes straight to my house.
5. Baking sweet potatoes. Ah, my favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner.
6. Lilacs. There used to be a huge lilac bush in Psycho Neighbor's backyard and it made the entire neighborhood smell awesome.
7. Pipe smoke. My grandfather used to smoke a pipe when I was a kid, and that's one of those "good memories of childhood" scents.
8. Sawdust. Now, that's a "scents I associate with my dad" one.
9. Apple pie. Aaaand that would be my mom.
10. Movie popcorn. Regular popcorn smells good, sure, but if I'm smelling movie popcorn, I'm at the movies. :)
