Quick question ... am I the only unpublished writer who on every visit to Borders has to stop by the shelves their published books would end up on and just stare at it hopefully? God, I hope not, 'cause then I'd just feel weird. :)

So I went to the movies today, but instead of seeing GoF, I saw Good Night, and Good Luck, which was an excellent movie. (And to the lady behind me ... how the hell did you think the movie would end, with Fred Friendly and Ed Murrow punching McCarthy in the face? Sheesh.) Of course, I can just see it being remade in fifty years as a slapstick comedy, with every instant of "McCarthy" changed to "Bush", "Ed Murrow" changed to "Jon Stewart", "See It Now" changed to "The Daily Show", "Communism" changed to "terrorism", and the ending changed to involve a guy screwing a turtle.

EDIT: A clip of the first couple of minutes of "The Christmas Invasion". OH. Ohhhhhh. Can I just have Ten? I mean, not permanently ... there are people who'd kill me for keeping him. But maybe just for a week or so, to play with? Please? *puppy-dog eyes*

newredshoes: possum, "How embarrassing!" (I'd rather be writing.)

I do that too! I always head to the Bs and gaze longingly at the space where my books will go. It's inspirational. ;)

I really wanted to see that, but it only went to our singular "arthouse" theatre, and I dunno if I'll get a chance to get out there.

*frowns* Maybe next weekend...

I think the only thing that was throwing me off was that I was really tired, but it was very well-acted, with David Straitharn being the standout. He's got the best Oscar chances of any of them, that's for sure.

Oh for this to come true.

I do that too.

Not actually part of Christmas Invasion

It was filmed after they finished CI and was done just for this charity stuff. My guess was that it was a briefer scene that was cut from the script and then got picked up and expanded when asked to do a short bit.

Liked it. Post-regeneration trauma is a time-honoured DW tradition. Let's just hope he doesn't take a cue from the Sixth Doctor and try to kill Rose...

I so linger by the 'C's in the bookstore.

I'd be right in front of Jackie Collins. Jackie fucking Collins. I'm not sure how to feel about that.

Okay, seriously? That's fucking strange, because I was in the bookstore two days ago and I was totally doing that and totally wondering if I was the only one and if that's a weird thing to do.

I'm not sure whether to feel reassured or disturbed. (Are you sharing my brain? I can't tell.)

I've been doing that for years. Ever since I started writing in tenth grade, every time I go into a bookstore I picture one of those little author name tags on a shelf with my name on it, and it gives me a warm, contented feeling. :)

While the movie was good, I was horrified to find out that Bobby Kennedy would work for that jackass. In fact, I still maintain I hallucinated it all!
