Okay, so here's the thing. You know that thing I said last night about wanting fic for the holidays? Well, here's what I was thinking last night at work.

What if you could make a wishlist of fic ideas -- stuff you'd like to see written, story ideas, pairings you don't see enough of ... stuff like that -- just like the wishlist meme and then post the link to one spot (if I did something like this, I'd probably put up a post later today when I wake up where everybody could comment in) where people could just pop in whenever they want during the holidays to maybe be inspired enough to either rec you fic that fit the criteria or write you something? No pressure, no deadlines (although it being a holidays thing, you might want to get anything finished by mid-Janury or so), and the only thing you'd be asked to do is go to anybody else's wishlist and write at least one drabble and/or pimp the whole thing? You know, so this way as many people as possible could get a little something they desperately wanted. No word limits, so you could write anywhere from 100 words to 100,000 if you felt the urge. Generally, just a little charity among friends. Honestly, I love the wishlist meme, but the only one on everybody's lists that I knew I could afford was fic. This way, we can all go wild and get some stuff we've been wanting to read in the process. :)

So what do you think? 'Cause I was thinking about it at work last night and I think it might be cool. Like an easier-going holiday ficathon with no hidden names or deadlines or anything. Not that there's anything wrong with those. ;) Just that my brother and I give each other our presents before Christmas so we have something to tide us over until Christmas morning, and I kind of think that might perk people up for the holidays to just have fic randomly appearing in their inboxes. You know, if LJ ever gets its comment-sending act together.

Then again, it is seven in the morning and I just worked all night. My brain could be broken. Wouldn't be the first time.

Excellent idea! It would provide prompts for people who wanted ideas and make people happy and stuff. I'd suggest making the deadline end of January, though, because of everything going on at New Year's.

Count me in :)

There's also [livejournal.com profile] fandomwishlist but it's not exclusively for fic.

You know why this show is awful for me? Because for me, it's the new X-Files. Lemmee explain. I am a big wimp when it comes to the scary in visual media. I can't even watch previews for horror movies; when I go to the movies with N, I cover my eyes and ears and make him tell me when it's over. I have a hugely overactive imagination, and when I watch the scary, I start thinking I see things everywhere.

But X-Files, I love. It scares the bejeezus out of me, but I loff it. This is a problem, because my X-Files viewing usually took place late at night when everyone but me was asleep, and I couldn't watch it, because then I'd have nightmares, but I couldn't stop, because I had to know!

And then I got married, and discovered that I could watch X-Files if someone was sitting next to me on the couch so I could bury my head during the scary bits. Yes, I am a big baby.

This show is just like that for me. I cannot watch it without N sitting next to me so I can squeeze his hand, and every so often I hide my head and mutter "she's going to eat him, tell me when she eats him so I can look again" but I cannot keep away because it is AWESOME and fun.

Poor N :D.

I think it's an excellent idea.

Also, I've watched all ten episodes of Supernatural. I think I'm in love with it, if you can be in love with a TV show.

You can. I don't know if it's healthy, but you definitely can be. :)

Well, being healthy is probably overrated, anyway. ;)

You can be in love with a TV show. You cannot, however, make out with a TV show, which is the only thing hindering my sordid relationship with that show. :)

Damn, because if I was going to make out with a TV show, that would be the one!

Also, icon love!

Great idea! I like having the option to write long or short stuff...that way, you can squeeze in a little bit of time for a wee little fic, if you're busy. Which I am. :)

There are different sorts of this done in a few fandoms, but I like this idea, stop-drop gift-fics, cool.

That's actually on my x-mas wishlist. Fic ideas for my supernatural fic.

I'd partake - my wishlists are always fandom stuff anyway because I don't feel comfortable otherwise, but sounds interesting.
