I can't believe I have yet to see anybody flailing because of the Golden Globe nominations. Dude! Johnny Depp got nominated for Willy Wonka! Brokeback Mountain is the most-nominated! Cillian Murphy got nominated for Breakfast on Pluto! Why am I not seeing more Muppet arms?!

Is it okay for me to love the fact Will Ferrell's nominated for The Producers? HEE!

EDIT: Well, okay, that's only been up a few minutes, but still. *flails more*

OTHER EDIT: OOO! And Keira Knightley for Pride and Prejudice! Did I mention I've seen that movie twice? I'm sad, y'all. (But it's really good, damn it.)

Ooo! Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote! Terrence Howard for Hustle and Flow! Paul Giamatti for Cinderella Man! Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger for Brokeback Mountain! Sarah Jessica Parker for The Family Stone? Aw, man, does this mean I have to watch it now?

*snickers* I love awards season. *bounces up and down happily*

I just finished flailing! Go look. It took me awhile because no one put all the nominees in one article yet!!!

I know! I hate how they do that with the major awards. I just want to look at one long list of the nominees, damn it, and they never put it in the articles announcing the nominations for the Globes or the Oscars. *grumbles*

I'm still buzzing. I completely forgot today was the nominations. I'm so ashamed. *hangs head* ;)

It just takes the news outlets awhile to get it off the wire and formatted. Stupid people. I usually watch them live and write them down, but that usually only works for the Oscars, and they only do the majors. Sigh. The 2006 HFPA site should be up soon.

Everything is topsy turvy this year, with the NBR being so late. I have all the lists posted. It's going to be an interesting year.

If you check the HFPA site now, the nominees are up in a nicely formatted list *G*

The Golden Globes have always LOVED Sarah Jessica Parker. I think they'd give her a nomination for anything. Hee.

I saw the trailer for Brokeback Mountain, but my bank account is more brokeback than that mountain right now, so I haven't seen the movie yet. Is it as hot as it looks?

Well, it hasn't opened in wide release yet. Right now, it's supposed to open in limited release this weekend, which means at this rate, I'll probably end up seeing it in February. *eye roll* (Then again, my local theater has a poster up for it, so that's a good sign.)

Awards season always makes me feel kinda guilty because through a combination of being English and being kind of lazy about going to see films that aren't scifi, fantasy or comedy (or having to do with gay cowboys), I usually haven't seen most of the films on the lists.

However, I will now proceed to squee thusly -
Squee for Hugh Laurie getting nominated (I haven't seen House, but dude, it's Hugh Laurie!). And also squee for Alanis Morissette up for best original song (I loved that song, don't know what her chances of winning are though). And squee for Kelly McDonald, even though The Girl in the Cafe was kind of cloying in places (and yes, there's a distinct British squeeing theme coming out here.)
But, kind of wtf for Matthew Fox being nominated for Lost. I mean, Lost, fair enough, I absolutely adore it. But... Jack? Has he done something in the second series (bearing in mind I'm spoiler-free and only halfway through series 1) that merits an acting award, or is it just that it has to be him because he's 'the lead'? (Squee for Sayid, though.)
*muppet arms*

There is one scene in the second season where I think, for that scene alone, Fox earned the nod. Where exactly are you in Season 2?

Uhh... we've just had the series 1 episode where Locke and Boone go looking for the plane Locke had a dream about. And Sawyer needs glasses :D And at the end the thing on the hatch lights up. I don't actually know what episode number it is, or what it was called.

We're a loooong way behind the US. I've been very good about not reading spoilers.

It might be that Matthew Fox is a better actor than I give him credit for. It's just that, almost every scene Jack's in - especially if he's running round the jungle looking lost and sweaty again - I find myself wishing we were watching whoever else the episode is about instead. I like all the supporting characters much better. There was one last week where Hurley, Charlie, Sayid and Jack were trying to cross a rope bridge, and I realised I couldn't deal with any of the first three breaking it but I could happily watch Jack fall in the canyon.

You're in for a treat

I definitely don't want to spoil it for you, but it's a present day scene in his Season 2 flashback episode. He has one particular anguished line delivery that was terrific.

The Globes really have rocked this year; if the Oscar nods are half so stylin', I'll be a Muppet-armed fool :)

Dude, did you see the Inside the Actor's Studio with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane and Oh God I Can't Remember Her Name But She Directed The Movie And Kicks So Much Ass? They showed a clip with Ferrell and the boys doing the goofy clappy dance thing and AAAHAHAHAMOVIEMUSTCOMEOUTNOW. It looks very, very old school Hollywood musical. I am SO JAZZED.

I'm v excited by the noms list this year, though interested by some of the people and movies that didn't make the lists. Like Joaqeeeeeen for WALK THE LINE, and Ralph Fiennes for CONSTANT GARDENER. Now I know the Globes are getting a bit more "out there" year by year, and no longer quite the Oscar indicators they used to be, but even so, this is going to be a VERY interesting year.
Am very disappointed that CRASH didn't fare better, and also intrigued that MUNICH, while it got a couple of good noms, didn't get a Best Film nod.
Bob Hoskins is in the show at my theatre at the mo, so there has been general rejoicing, in a quiet "No-one tell Kristin Scott Thomas cos all her recent flicks have sucked" kinda way... She's in the show too.
Care to start your Oscar Nom predicting?
And it's a big "ah, well.." for Jake, by the way...
