Is it as pathetic as I think it is that I'm trying to lose 5-10 pounds right now not because I'm overweight in the least, but because I can't fit into most of my clothes and I can't afford to buy new ones?

No, not pathetic at all.
It's quite frustrating not to be able to wear stuff, and it's just those annoying few sneaky pounds that's the toughest to shed. Good luck. I am never able to do that if I try, it goes the other way - I gain pound extra.
