In an interview just a month ago, [Gov. Sarah Palin] dissed the job, saying it didn’t seem “productive.”

In fact, she said she doesn’t know what the vice president does.

Larry Kudlow of CNBC’s “Kudlow & Co.” asked her about the possibility of becoming McCain ticket mate.

Palin replied: “[A]s for that V.P. talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that V.P .slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

Your possible next vice-president, ladies and gentleman.

Hey, at least she's got lady parts! All you Hillary voters are stupid enough to fall for that, right?

(Note: I do not actually think anyone I know is stupid enough to fall for that. Not even my cat. In fact, I think even the chinchillas would call bullshit.)

To be fair, how the VP role is defined depends largely on the president. Dan Quayle, like many a VP before him, ended up spending most of his time attending the funerals of foreign dignitaries. Gore and Cheney, on the other hand, had/have substantive roles--perhaps too substantive in Cheney's case.

So it's a legitimate question: What kind of job will VP be under McCain?

The more important question is: With McCain celebrating his 72nd birthday today, is this really the person ANYONE wants one heartbeat away from the presidency? Her resume is thinner than Obama's, a point that I'm sure will be hammered into the ground over the next few days. And although I haven't seen her speak, her lack of experience makes it pretty likely she'll be eaten alive by Biden in the debate.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see where the trend goes. Gore and Cheney both redefined the traditional (Trumanesque) role of the VP as an empty suit. Wonder of the new role sticks.

Yep...I was thinking exactly that...that Biden would eat her alive during the debates. I can't wait. *puts popcorn on her shopping list.*
