"Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are hoping the new mansion they've just purchased will be ready in time for their wedding. It could take a while, because it takes a long time to weld together a hundred trailer homes." -- Graham Norton, as quoted on TheSuperficial.com

*dies laughing*

Also, there was this, er, lovely tidbit ... Alec Baldwin's younger brother actor Stephen Baldwin is throwing his support behind President George W Bush in the forthcoming Presidential election - because his country's leader is "being led by God". The former liberal and now born-again Christian is attending the Republican National Convention in New York to cheer on the current premier, who he deems has more faith than Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry. Baldwin tells gossip site Pagesix.Com, "I'm there to support the man I believe has the most faith. That's who I'm voting for. I believe the next president should be a guy who is being led by God. I believe there is one guy, and that's the guy I want to vote for." As for any disharmony between him and his Democratic-supporting siblings Alec and William, Baldwin comments, "I don't have a perception about that."

I'll cut the rant. )

EDIT: If you've been skipping out on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes, this one is hilarious.

Two questions that have made me think waaaaaaay too much into the last twenty-four hours:

1. In Underworld, Michael became half-vampire and half-werewolf. So what does it mean if he bites someone else? Do they become half-vampire and half-werewolf, or do they croak? And why the hell do I even care?

... and ...

2. If Gore had ended up with the presidency, and September 11th had still happened, and the Democrats had mentioned at the DNC this year that he should be reelected partly for his bang-up job after 9/11, how would the Republicans have responded?

I need to think about something else infinitely more important to me in the short run, like, say, my TroNoWriMo story. Oh, yes. *scurries off to write*

EDIT: Yet another thing that makes me think.

For those of you who haven't already read this, some of the Republican delegates are demeaning Purple Hearts.

So let me see if I understand this. If I want the troops to come home and stay safe, I'm not supporting them, but if the Republicans make fun of an award given to those wounded in battle while trying to protect us, that's okay. (And I say it's okay because where the hell are the sane Republicans to step up and say, "Stop being on my side! You're making my side look bad!"?)

*grrr*

EDIT: Bush to veterans: 'We will win' terror war -- But ... but ... but didn't you say yesterday that we couldn't win the war on terror? WTF?!

You think people are watching you walk down the street. That's not paranoia.

You look in your bathroom mirror and think you see that chick from "Romper Room". Now, that's paranoia.

Today I heard a political ad on the radio advocating a candidate who supports the Federal Marriage Amendment. It was one of those dorky ads where someone says a "good" thing about the candidate, and someone else says whatever awful, evil ideas the opposition has -- in this case, "So-and-so doesn't think the Federal Marriage Amendment is important!"

Uh, you know what? In a world with terrorists, Sudanese genocide, starving children, war and unrest in the Middle East, murder, rape, stalled economies, and the like, the Federal Marriage Amendment ranks on the list of vitally important things right after a constitutional amendment to make the Care Bears the official cartoon characters of the United States.

Urgh. Is it after the election yet? No? Okay, fine, I'll settle for it being September in about an hour and a half. 'Cause then it'll be the same month as my birthday and YAY.
